I have a deLonghi deep fryer. I didn't follow the directions exactly as there was too much to fit in the basket, even in three batches. Decided to do fries first then fish separately. Big mistake. When I dropped the fish into the basket, the batter wrapped around the bottom of the basket, making it impossible to get the fish out without it falling into a hundred pieces. Tried a second batch and put some of the (already cooked fries on the bottom. The fish batter melded around the fries. ??? The flavor was good, just didn't work with the equipment I have and amounts indicated.

I don't do gluten, and was so happy to find this recipe for fish and chips using rice four and soda water, instead of the usual wheat flour and beer. It was sooo good, even my gluten eating family loved it without knowing it was gluten free. The tartare sauce was an excellent accompaniment, which i made using soy mayonnaise. Thanks Tyler!!

HOLY COW, was this great! My husband hasn't stopped raving about it - now there's no need to wish for the "fish and chips we had in England". I used all purpose flour instead of rice flour, and it turned out just as great. The end piece was so "picture perfect" that my husband actually DID took a picture of it!

This was the best fried fish recipe I have ever tried. My family was amazed. Normally I drench my fish in malt vinegar but this was so good I didnt want to!!
And you almost cant burn it, on one batch I got distracted by my 2yr old who is potty training and 5 min later when I made it back the fish was still light golden. It doesnt get to greasy either.

First batch came out absolutely perfect. On the second batch, I thought I'd finish off the last of the chips first and do the fish by itself. Not a good idea! The fish stuck to the bottom of my fryer and made a huge mess. Moral of the story is, follow directions and make sure you put the chips underneath the fish. I love using club soda instead of beer with the added calories and alcohol and will use this batter with other seafood, veggies and so forth. Thank you Tyler. You're a genius!
