I've never made french onion soup. The best I've had is at one particular restaraunt and this is better than that soup! Love it, my whole familly loved it too. Thank you!

Excellent, restaurant quality soup. I had some problems using the broiler and had to start over with the croutons.

This was very good. I made it withut the garlic because I did not have any on hand. The only thing I would change would be to add some more flour once you add the liquid- it was not thick enough for my taste. I will definitely make again.

This was so easy to make and tasted like it came from a restuarant. It was so favorful and rich. This is one soup recipe I will make over and over again.

My wife is picky about French Onion. She said this was 'Restaurant Quality'. Maybe allow for a little more cooking time, but well worth your efforts.

Great recipe- keep in mind that most people will not be able to do it as fast as Tyler. The caramelizing and wine reduction definitely take longer than the recipe indicates, but the results are worth it.

This soup has depth of flavor and is loved by all in my family. I love Alton Brown but his recipe was terrible. I added 1 teaspoon of ground sage and a quick squeeze of honey. It doesn't make it sweet, just balances out the flavors. I also cook it longer than the recommended 10 minutes in the end. I like my soup velvety and a bit thicker. I've ready made this twice this week. Thanks Tyler!

I am not in the habit of writing reviews, but I have made this french onion soup recipe on several occasions, and every time it is a huge hit. Absolutely delicious, and one of the best recipes that I have ever tried from this site.

This recipe is so delicious and easy to make. The broth is very hearty and flavor intense. Make sure you use sweet yellow onions. Only thing I changed was I only used half a stick of butter and added some bacon drippings since I was making bacon paninis already and had it on hand. Boyfriend loved it. I am definitely making this again.
