I watched Tyler make this one afternoon and decided to give it a try. He was absolutely right! It was quick and easy to make, but it was so delicious. You gotta realize people, these chefs aren't lyin'. If you use fresh ingredients and follow the recipes, you can impress your friends and family with awesome food. I watch the Food Network religiously, and will continue to do so. But ALWAYS remember, ya gotta put a lotta love in all your cookin'. PEACE-

This was by far the most incredible French Onion Soup I ever had, or made. Not at all difficult, and so delicious. My husband told me not to lose this recipe, he wants a repeat for sure. Thanks Tyler, for the ultimate French Onion Soup Recipe.

This soup was fantastic :- I carmalized the onions 5 minutes longer, patience is the key. I also added an extra 5 minutes to the wine I wasn't sure what the dry onions were to look like,
This will be added to my most favorites.
Made this for lunch today and it is the perfect meal on a winter day.
Thanks Tyler

Overall, this was really good and my family really liked it. I added brown sugar and sliced my onions really thin to get them to caramelize quickly. My wine never evaporated fully even after almost an hour so I just went as is which was fine. I also added a little asiago on top like some others did and it went really well with the gruyere.

I have tried a few of the recipes for french onion soup from here over the last few months and this is far and away the best french onion soup I have had. I prefer it with Swiss cheese but still an awesome recipe.

This recipe is all in the technique. I have been making french onion soup with pretty much the same list of ingredients, but with a different cooking method. When I tried this version I was blown away! I had never tried cooking the flour with the onions before, it made the broth just a little bit thicker which I liked.
I am vegetarian so I use vegetable broth & added a bit of dijon mustard and balsamic vinegar to make it a little more savory.
