I do not know if high altitude (8,000 ft makes a difference, but I found this to be horrible. I followed the recipe, which I felt was really lacking. 4 onions? what kind? how big? I used vidalia - maybe they were too sweet & juicy. We threw this out as inedible. And after reading the reviews I thought this would be wonderful. It was sooo NOT wonderful. And sooo NOT easy - took twice as long & could not get the onions "dry" whatever that means.

This recipe is a keeper! I have to cook the onions much longer than it calls for but it's not a big deal. The end result is worth the wait! I typically serve it with a slice of provelone instead of gruyere since it's less expensive and t's great - one of the best soups I've ever had.

Love french onion soup, this was my first time to make it. It's very easy taste is out of this world good and yes the onions do take longer than 25mins well worth the wait. I'm having left overs today as the temp is in the 20's. I will be making this many more times, thanks Tyler for yet another great dish.

This recipe is perfect. The most time consuming part is chopping and carmelizing the onions (no biggie!. Takes a bit longer then 25 minutes but I like them really carmelized well. This recipe is really easy to make. I like to do it after the kids go to bed and then reheat it the next night. It's delicious!

This soup is absolutely the best French onion soup I have ever had, hands down. I made the recipe exactly as written, nothing needs to change. That is saying a lot for me, generally I change something. The onions needed longer than 25 minutes to be nice and caramelized for me, other than that, perfect. Try it, you won't be disappointed, not one bit. Also, it reheats great and tastes exactly the same the next day, would be a great make ahead dish for entertaining.

I found this recipe had way too much butter - I would use less than half what the recipe calls for; just enough to carmelize the onions.

THIS WAS DELICIOUS!!! I highly recommend making this soup and it was so easy! I added a few shakes of Worstershire to deepen the flavor a tad, but it was so good. My boyfriend and I instantly wanted a second bowl. Great cozy soup for Winter!
