This is a great salsa for grilled fish, chicken or steak. I like to use green onions (not white, 1 cucumber and 1 avacado Yes! they're great, fresh additions that balance out the slightly bitter tomatillo.

We made the tomatillo salsa and hated it. We found the tomatillo salsa was really bitter and the cilantro and lime were over powering. It was just nasty and we ended up throwing it out. On the upside, the tortilla chips were really yummy and easy to make. Plus they are much better tasting than the chips that you buy in the store and luckily we had some Pace Picante that we could dip the chips in.

This tastes so fresh, making it a welcome addition to this winter table.
I, too, was unaware tomatillos needed to be cooked for a salsa. D'oh! This did the trick.
Tasting as I went through the process I didn't have issues with anything overpowering the balace I wanted. However, I did use red onions, but I rinsed them; and only use one lime. I added a large handful of cilantro to start, tasted and added a bit more.
Taste, taste, taste! It's likely to become a weekend staple as it is simple to make, fast and yields a big, fresh flavour.
Thanks, Tyler!

I recently saw this salsa recipe on Tyler's show - salsa verde is my favorite - I've never made it before and this looked like a good one - I purchased the tomatillas at my grocery store - luckily they were in stock, because they are not a consistent item - I played the show - went to the kitchen and made it - took maybe 15 min or less?
I did not have the hot peppers, I used red itallian peppers and added some hot sauce - next time I will use the jallap. in the recipe - I did not think the limes were over powering - we had company over for a taco night (beef tacos and we passed the salsa - all enjoyed and the recipe was shared - thanks Tyler !!!

I only made the tomatillo salsa and loved it. We went heavy on the cilantro and garlic, and light on the lime juice. It turned out excellent! Definately making this one again. Lots of flavor going on there. Easy peasy too.

I didn't think the limes were overwhelming at all. This is a fat free salsa with wonderful flavors. Easy to make and fantastic. I didn't know how easy it was to make our own chips. You bet I'll be making this again.

The limes were overwhelming.I tried to add more onion and more cilantro but could not downplay the lime.
