I don't know what went wrong, but heating the oil to 375, my chicken burned on the outside well before 20 minutes was up, and was still somewhat raw on the inside. This is the first recipe of Tyler's that did not turn out so good for me.

I have to agree with several others that the suggested oil temp is way too hot. The outside of the chicken was way overcooked after 15 minutes and the inside was was way undercooked. I monitored the temp very carefully so I know it never went over 375. I questioned this because Paula Deen in another fried chicken recipe called for a temp of 350 for about 14 minutes for dark meat and even less time for white meat. I cooked the last batch at 325 for 16 minutes and the chicken was very good. I, like some other reviewers, had to finish my first two batches in the oven.

This is the absolute best fried chicken I've ever tasted! It's so flavorful, tender, and juicy. My husband loved it more than his mom's recipe shhh, don't tell her!and he gushes over her cooking. It's a really easy recipe and is now the onlly way I will cook fried chicken.
