I had potatoes very similar to these when I was in Europe and dreamt about them, hoping to find that same smooth, creamy flavor in this recipe. I was not disappointed! They melt in your mouth! And, very easy!

Made this for our thanksgiving potluck. It came out awesome. Did not have mustard or fresh thyme. Used a bit of ground thyme. Also sprinkled some chives Was delicious.

this recipe was fantastic. You have to remember, though, that you have to boil at a lower temperature. The cream and mild added such a great flavor. I knew it was going to be fabulous as it was cooking. I am making again this year!

To the confused person: YES! The quartered potatoes will cook faster, and if you tried to cook the potatoes whole, and they were different sizes, the little ones would cook faster, thus, the little ones would be done, but the bigs ones would be hard still, OR, the little ones would be mushy, and the big ones done. If you cut them into uniform chunks, they'll cook evenly and get done more quickly.

I'd never made "real" mashed potatoes before because they always seemed like too much work. The other night I had some leftover potatoes, so I searched for a recipe to use them up. This came up and seemed easy enough, so I figured I didn't have anything to lose. They were WAY easy and completely delicious. Thanks Tyler for allowing my family to ditch instant potatoes forever!

This is delicious. i like the idea of not boiling the potatoes in water. I did use my dutch oven to cook them, do not leave unitended the cream will boil over.
