This is one of my fathers favorites. The only thing I do different is that I do not use the bread, and it still is great! I

Made this twice and really like it. I changed something the last time I made it. I am not a big crouton person and thought the first time I made it a bit too much bread. So in lieu of croutons I used a can of French's fried onions. Yeah, yeah, you can make fresh onion stings if you wish, but when cooking for my family I will sometimes cut a corner for times sake. I make the casserole exactly as Tyler's receipe say's, but in the end instead of adding the croutons I add the fried onion strings, not a whole can, maybe 2/3rds. Ummmmm, nice flavor and texture. Also I prefere shitaki mushrooms due to that 'woody' flavor they impart; a nice blending with fresh green beans. And the green beans, don't cut a corner here, get fresh 'runner' beans. Try your local farmers market. All canned beans are Blue Lake variety, yuck.

This dish is amazing the flavors and ingredients go together great. Everyone loved this dish on Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. Be prepared to take time this required many steps but is worth the time put into making it!

It's a great recipe....changes up the" old" green bean casserole. I have made this several times, after the first I realized it needs to be a little thicker. I just add a little corn starch or flour in with the mushrooms to thicken the sauce a little..

I made this for a holiday party and it was one of the first things gone. So fresh and delicious! It is a great base recipe as well to add your own ideas too. I followed the basic measurements for pounds of green beans and used 1 cup of the heavy cream, but I also did a few things differently. I only used button mushrooms and they worked fine with the shallots. I also made a topping out of equal parts fresh bread crumbs and Parmesan dotted with a bit of butter. This saved time and created a beautiful brown topping!

I loooove this recipe. 2 thumbs up Tyler. I made this dish on thanksgiving day and it was a huge hit. The herbs and heavy cream sync together to make an unbelievable taste. I will make it again this chrismass.
