This is not cioppino. There is NO CHORIZO in cippino, and now I know why. The chorizo was stronger than the seafood and ruined what should be a lovely seafood stew.

I am just a cooking amateur, that just cant get enough of the food network. I love to try new recipes. This recipe is succulent and very satisfying, It gave us the chocolate effect!! Try it, it will be worth your while, I could not find fresh halibut or clams, but substituted with scallops. I also added some leftover chorizo slices which thickened up the stock. My husband's quote: It's like an explosion of tasty flavors. I used mini baquette loaves, that worked out really well with herbed butter melted between the half cuts. The herbed butter was such a hit-my son and husband were actually using it as a dip.

My first attempt at ciopino and it was great! We don't get alot of good quality seafood here, so I did not make the fish addition. Had to order the clams, since my market didn't have any that day. Halved the recipe and shelled about 2 crabs legs to put in the sauce. The sauce was really good sopped up with the bread. (I made the bread like Tyler did on the show-sliced not quite all the way through with butter slathered on the slices Great presentation!

Was wonderful! Made it for a birthday dinner and everyone loved it. Served it for 6 people and had plenty of food. Very filling. Couldn't find the Spanish chorizo so I substituted Andouille sausage (the butcher's suggestion.

The sauce/broth was simply wonderful. I did not put my bread in the bowl-neither did Tyler!? I used a bit less chorizo for fear of 'spice' but now I realize it would have been fine to have more(I used 3 chorizo(6". I could have cut down on the seafood- there was a lot. If you want less mess-use 1/4 cuop of crab on top of serving.Using good halibut was key! I had to improvise having no food processor- worked out fine.

Saw it on TV yesterday. Made it last night for friends. A perfect piece of pizzazz mixing comfort food with simple elegance, it perfectly underscored our friendship of forty years.
We'll come back to this one.
