I have made these meatballs several times. Delicious! The mashed potatoes are a must to serve with them. I would serve this at a dinner party with pleasure.

Very good! Just make sure you set aside enough time to make the recipe - it's not a quick after work dinner. I make this every year on December 13 to celebrate our Swedish roots on St Lucia Day!

also, you can substitute ground turkey for ground veal if you don't have it.

I consider myself a pretty good cook and was looking for a new dish when I caught Tyler's show on Food Network. Not too complicated with ingredients I can get in my hometown. So I made them for my husband and a couple of our boys - -we have seven. Folks, this is one of those dishes you dont come across very often. The sauce is the real show stopper here. It got such rave reviews that we served it for the whole family on Christmas. I doubled the meatballs and tripled the sauce and I tell you they were ALL devoured with the boys standing over the pan wiping the remains of sauce with bread. THAT is how you know your dish was a hit at this house!!! Do not omit those peppercorns. They make this sauce as does the currant jelly. It is just one of those perfect dishes that you dont find too often. Thank you so much Tyler for bringing me one that is now a family tradition.

Wonderful! Great update to an older concept. The brown/roast idea for the meatballs is brilliant, and the sauce (without the usual sour cream is exceptional. I think the lingonberry and black currant jams, although difficult to find, are key to this recipe. (Whole Foods has both. Next time, I may substitute 1/2&1/2 because the cream makes this dish deliciously and sinfully rich. Halving this recipe works fine.

I figured out the mystery as to why the recipe I saw on his show and the one on the website where different. There are two: He has one called Lena's Swedish Meatballs, and another just Swedish Meatballs. The Lena's one is the one from the show, with the more authentic ingredients.

I am not a meatball lover, but decided to try and change that by making these, and it worked! I love these! I made a half recipe, using ground turkey and ground beef, turned out wonderfully!
