I made the meatballs and mashed potatoes. FABULOUS! Only changes I made for the meatballs were: did not use veal (as I do not agree with how it is raised, used only 1 tsp. of allspice, cut back on the salt, and I had boysenberry jam on hand so I used that instead. EXCELLENT flavor and I did not have to prompt my husband to eat leftovers. The mashed potatoes were perfect and I have never made better!

As always the food looked great and I was wondering if anyone knows who makes the cookware in that episode?

We made this dish last nite and thought it was absolutely delicious! We also made the mashed potatoes and pickled red onions and cucumbers. Friends raved about how good it was.

The meatballs would have been delicious had they not been so salty. Was there a mis-print or did the recipe truly call for 2 tablespoons of salt? Everyone else seems to give it great reviews, so I wonder if they reduced the salt.

This dish is wonderful! The meatballs are very tender and the flavor of the meatballs and the pan gravy are unbelievable. I will definately make this dish again.

Bravo Tyler & brava me! Made the whole shebang exactly as is. ABSOLUTELY DO make the quick pickles (x2, mashed 'tatos AND DO serve with lingonberry jam or substitute cranberry sauce as my hero, Tyler, suggested. Made this perfect winter meal on January 9 & my husband has requested it for his next birthday, January 5! So much for this year's Beef Bourguignon! I made the whole quantity for family of 4 and tensions were high as we divided leftovers between us & my picky-eater-college-age-daughter who insisted on taking some back to school with her. 10 STARS.

4 stars on the strength of the meatballs which are very tasty. The gravy, however, is mediocre at best, and that's only if you can get past the totally unappetizing color. Make the meatballs and use one of Paula Deen's gravy recipes!

I saw Tyler make this dish this morning, shopped this afternoon and served it tonight. We loved it, and the pickled cucumber salad he served with was the perfect accompaniment.

Oh what comfort food! Loved the black courant jelly in the recipe. I made half the meatballs and all the sauce. It came out perfect. I added a bit of fresh dill along with the parsley step.
    Definitely a keeper.

Watched this in the AM made it for dinner. Loved it. Meatballs were very moist and flavorful. Could not find plain black current jam so I used one that was blueberry/black current jam. It worked fine and I just scooped the blueberries out of the pan. The sauce was very smooth. I also made the Pickled Cucumbers and Red Onion which went great with the dish. And of course the Velvety Mahed Potatoes. Overall is was a winner! Would make it for a dinner party.
