I made this macaroni and cheese for dinner tonight after seeing Tyler make it on the show. Funny how it never looks the same on my stovetop as it does on the TV... I was really worried because when I was making it, it seemed too runny. I ended up letting it boil a bit on the stove to try to thicken it, and then probably overbaked it in the oven, so it actually turned out to have almost no melt left to it. And I mean it was runny, soupy, could barely see the noodles through the liquid when I first mixed it all together. My boyfriend said that he liked it, but I've grown up on smooth Velveeta mac 'n cheese, so the crunchiness was hard for me to get used to. I will agree with others that it was a bit bland, but I'm sure if I had done more than "smash" the garlic as the recipe told me to, it would have helped.

This was so good! I made mine with sharp white cheddar and parm. I also added the bacon into the mac 'n cheese along with parsley. I had to cook mine a little longer to get it nice and crunchy on top. The family loved it! Thanks Tyler.

I added about 1/2 C of sharp yellow cheddar - felt it needed more cheese taste along w/ a tiny bit of grated nutmeg. Was pretty good!

There are two kinds of people. One type likes food naturally flavored allowing the food to speak for itself. I made Tylers french onion soup and it too was bland. The other type likes to add to the flavor of the food and kick it up a few notches... one way to kick this flavor up would be to fry up the bacon first. Use the bacon grease to make the rue. (heck even use the bacon in the dish instead or just on top.. And skip the expensive less flavor cheese. Any kind will work.. Velveeta if you feel the need. The color will change

Without a doubt the best Mac & Cheese ever. If you saw the show & follow the recipe, you will have a tasty dish that's beyond any mac & cheese you've ever had. Excellent!

I just tried this expensive mac & cheese recipe, and ended up throwing it away.
There was no taste, I kept adding salt and pepper to try and give it something, but all it tasted like was pasta baked in a white gravy.
I bought the best white vermont cheese I could find, bought whole milk, which I usually don't use, good pasta, and it just tasted bland. $10 for a mac and cheese dish that has no taste is a total waste of money.

Decided to tryTylers mac and cheese as a side dish for a dinner party. I followed the recipe exactly and found the dish to be bland and heavy. Needless to say I did not serve the dish and was very disappointed. This dish is fairly expensive when using good white cheddar cheese :(

I made the mac & cheese this morning for dinner tonite. This is the best mac & cheese I have made to date. Emeril's 5 cheese Mac & Cheese used to be my go to recipe but this one is better. I added some hot sauce to the milk mixture becaue we like a little extra spice in our mac & cheese and it added just the right amount of extra pizazz. Thanks, Tyler, I am now roasting the tomatoes for the tomato soup. The scent from the oven is wonderful so I expect great things!

Even though my husband and daughters completely eat Tyler's recipe for Mac/Cheese/Bacon, they also scarf down the contents of the little blue box that they have bought at their local grocery stores for the past 40+ years. It would/will be a fun family food even featuring the above items. I am making sure that a fine white wine is there for me!!!!! Thanks Tyler.
