Make this EVERY year and it is a big hit with my family. Moist, great tasting, yummy!!!

One year I was at the grocery store in the fresh vegetable department and asked one of the employees where their fresh sage was.......he says: "Oh you're making that turkey recipe off of Food Network?".

I couldn't believe it, it was so funny.

    Word does get around!!!

This is the standby at our house. We make it every Thanksgiving and sometimes at Christmas too. For al least 5 years it has been a family favorite.

Like many others, I made this turkey for the first time years ago and my family will not let me make it any other way. I even make roasting chickens this way during the year. It is a simple recipe that is relatively fail-safe and it can be tweaked to different tastes. Add more herbs under the skin or change the bacon type on the breast or change some stuffing ingredients to suit different tastes (dried fruit plumps up in the stuffing when added. I love this turkey!

I made just the stuffing part of this recipe last year, and it was a huge hit. I used Marie Calendar's cornbread mix, and added some bacon to the stuffing. It was the first thing requested this year for the holidays!

I used this recipe for my first Thanksgiving four years ago and have used it every year since then. The turkey is incredibly moist and the skin browns beautifully. I add celery to the stuffing and use Jiffy corn muffin mix. Use thin cut smoked bacon instead of thicker cuts; the thin bacon will definitely cook through but still add great flavor. Thanks for the wonderful recipe!
