I just used jiffy box cornbread and it turned out fantastic. Didn't use all the maple syrup but still thought it turned out very moist. We removed the bacon before carving and crumpled it over the extra stuffing. Yum!

I was hesitant to cook turkey since I never cook anything. I was searching a bunch of recipes in 2007 and I've compared and contrast which one sounds more flavorful and this one won. So I decided to make this turkey and it was WONDERFUL! My parents and sister loved every single aspect of it, it was moist and tasty. Like others, I actually enjoyed massaging my turkey with the butter, I guess the sage flavor was different, but not something that I'd mind in my 2nd turkey cooking... and I'm making it again this year! It's so good, I don't dare change to something else LOL. Thanks for good food recipes.

I've made this turkey twice and both times my family and friends loved it. I think its the bacon that makes it so perfect. The only word of warning is don't overdue the maple baste. The second time around I got a little ahead of myself and added extra maple thinking it would add that much more flavor. The gravy I made from the drippings ended up a bit too sweet. That's what I get for messing with a perfect recipe:

turkey bird recipe in my life. This recipe always comes out great. It's easy. I add celery to the onions and use Marie Calandar's cornbread mix. It's the best I've found. Pure maple syrup is pricey, but well worth it.

    Enjoy!

This is the 3rd year in a row I will be making this exact Turkey. Its outstanding. Love the flavor. And the bird makes a great presence with the bacon etc.

Several years ago I made the mistake of agreeing that my new mother in law's Thanksgiving Turkey was perhaps the dryest ever. And my lovely husband volunteered me to make the Christmas one. I poured over all the Turkey recipes and Tyler's won out. I had never cooked a Turkey before and I was nervous. This according to everyone is the best and most moist Turkey they had ever eaten. There are never any leftovers and each year I get a bigger and bigger one. They even fight over the bacon. I admit I kind of like massaging the butter into the meat makes me think I am tenderizing it. Don't worry if you think you don't like maple or sage the flavors just enhance and do not overpower. I was rechecking the recipe to make my shopping list and thought I might give it a thumbs up.

This was the recipe I used for making my first Thanksgiving dinner. Usually my father cooks but I decided it was time he had a break. I have to say this is a really great recipe. It is easy and very good. Everyone came back for seconds on the turkey. I'm not so sure the stuffing was as good but it wasn't bad. I just think we prefer regular to corn bread.

I'm not a big turkey fan but after this recipe, I can't wait to make it again. Not only did the turkey look like something Martha Stewart had roasted, it was perfectly browned, but it was juicy. The flavor was superb with a hint of maple and bacon. My guests, including my finicky 7 year old, couldn't stop raving. I highly recommend this recipe to everyone.
