I followed the advice of the previous reviewers and added 1 tsp of cumin and half a can of corn. I was serving this to my children so I left out the additional "hot" spices. Very good, I will be doing this again.

My husband had some chicken soup at a local Mexican restaurant this weekend and wanted me to try to repeat it. This was the closest I could find to the soup he had at the restaurant. I read the other reviews and added some chili powder and cayenne pepper to give it some spice. It was fairly spicy and it was good. We still thought it needed more flavor without adding heat, and so we also added about a tsp of cumin, which made it very good. We enjoyed the soup, but it still could have used something else. If you like things kicked up a little bit add some of your own spices, but otherwise it was a good recipe and I would recommend it.

This is such a great recipe. I've been making it for a couple years and my family loves it, even my 2 young sons who are fussy. I'm making it as I type! Great soup if you're on a gluten-free diet. I always make the chicken stock recipe and then shred the chicken from the stock. I wouldn't change one thing. Thanks Tyler!

This is super easy to make and tastes AMAZING!

Adding a can of whole kernel white corn just at the end gave it just a little more crunch.

I can see this being a great party food (like chili with the cheese, tortillas, limes, chicken and sour cream on the side for people to add.

This soup is honestly the best tortilla soup I have ever had! I used a can of diced tomatoes instead of fresh and only one jalepeno. It came out great. Make sure to use lime and cilantro because I think it really put the soup over the top. I also baked whole wheat tortilla strips to make it healthier. It was simply amazing.

Fabulous!!! Best soup I've every made - hands down! So simple and fresh. It is especially good if you eat it right away when the tortilla chips are still freshly made and warm. What a treat and so mush more interesting with the cilantro, avocado, cheese, and tortilla strips on top. I used very authentic corn tortillas - handmade as opposed to Mission brand. I will me making this soup again and again. Thanks Tyler!!!

I've been making this soup for about two years now. I make it a couple of times a month. When the budget is low I add a can of black beans and a can of white corn to help stretch it out and it is so yummy. One of my alltime favorite recipes.
