They are wonderful. I used chocolate chips instead because I didn't have a bar on hand. The only thing they could use is some fullness. Once they cool, they are flat! I bake another cookie that comes like this also, amazing but flat..

I've been looking for a recipe that makes chocolate chip cookies that aren't flat, but are still chewy (and don't have a cake-like consistency. These cookies are perfect! Definitely my go-to recipe from now on. Using a good flour makes a big difference too! I make them small because the 1/4 c scoop is too big for most people (not me!.

These cookies were very good. We did not find them cakey at all, but very moist and chewy, with a nice lightly crusty bottom. I made them with about 2 1/4 cups of semi-sweet chips, since that is what I had in the house. I will definitely make them again.

We felt that the cookies were very mediocre. We felt that they could have been less salty, more flavorful and defiantly less cake like. Overall they were a pretty big disappointment.

I loved these cookies so much!!! Very, very good. Was a little iffy on making them because of reviews saying they were cakey but, they turned out just fine for me. Also reviews saying they were floury and salty were not true for me either. One of the best cookie recipies I have ever tried for sure. Used semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of the dark chocolate block and they turned out just fine (I'm not big on dark chocolate. They were pretty big cookies, very gigantic, just one is very filling. Loved these cookies!!! Everyone should try these, very yummy!!! :-

I was bummed. These cookies were a bit cake-y. Very bland. I was hoping for them to be more chewy, sweeter, and moe salty. The dough was really good before baking them. I think Alton Brown is the man to turn to for great cookies.

This big fat chocolate chip cookie was "The Bomb". Such the perfect recipe I was looking for. I just needed a basis recipe I knew was thick, chewy and tasty to add the twist with my semi chocolate chips morsels and Andes peppermint candies. To give the recipe a touch more of pepermint taste, I used 1/2 tsp of peppermint extract and 1/2 tsp of vanilla instead of 1 tsp only of vanilla. The cookies were exactly what I was looking for and it was because I trusted Tyler's cooking, I knew I couldn't go wrong!!!! And sure enough I was right! I watch Tyler all the time! You're my hero Tyler! :
