The rub is pretty basic. I slow cooked a 4.85 lb boneless pork butt (crockpot for 6 hours and it sliced beautifully. Next time I would slow cook for 10 to make sure it falls apart at the touch. Make sure there is liquid in the slow cooker so the meat does not dry out.

The first try with the Vinegar BBQ Sauce was a bust for us - too vinegary as stated by some reviewers. I took one reviewers advice and used ? cup cider vinegar, ? cup yellow mustard, ? cup ketchup, ? cup of brown sugar but used 2 minced garlic clove (used a garlic press, ? tsp. cayenne, salt and pepper. It was wonderful - even my daughter liked the sauce (on her chicken fingers anyway.

The sauce I will make again for sure.

Prepared 21# of this for a party. It wasn't a real strong barbecue taste, but everyone was raving. I marinated boston butt overnite and cooked it in the oven for about 4 hours. Then I let it slow cook in a roaster overnite before the party. Because it was in the roaster so long, I did add some water, but only because it evaportes away in the roaster. Jane from Green

Tyler, you're a genius, dude! I was looking for a recipe that would feed a crowd without having to spend a ton of time and this was it! I used a roast that was half the size and cooked it in my crockpot. It turned out great especially with the slaw on top! It's been a very long time since I've had authentic southern BBQ and it's nice to finally taste it again :o Thanks alot!

Tyler Florence's recipe for Oven Roasted Barbequed Pulled-Pork Sandwich is ultmately the best tasting, easy to prepare and always a hit when served at our home. I've used this recipe three times for special celebrations when family and frieds come for lunch and they all inquire about the recipe. The best feature is the how simple it is to prepare using spices commonly found in everyone's kitchen. I have used two minced garlic cloves in place of garlic powder or garlic salt and it is just as delicious. I always prefer to use garlic cloves instead of the powdered.
The spicy cole slaw is outstanding and a great complement to the pulled pork sandwich. I love this recipe and have shared it upon request.
I was fortunate to be able to attend a Tyler Florence demonstration in Cleveland, Ohio at a food expo. Outstanding just like his recipes.

The pulled pork had great flavor. The sauce was pretty tangy and we didn't need to add extra, but one of our guests did!
We had several great meals out of this recipe!

I have experimented with many recipes to prepare BBQ at home. This recipe was the simplest and most delicious yet. I plan to use the sauce on other meats as well as pork.

I've been looking for a simple dry rub that I could make in advance and store sealed for use as needed. This hit the bull's eye. Thanks Tyler!
