I made this recipe for my whole family for the first family gathering at my new home, and it did not turn out so well. There is too much salt in the rub and it over powered everything! My family nicely suffered through it, but I could not even eat it. I tried the recipe again with a lot less salt and it was much better.

I made this for dinner for 6 and it was the best prime rib I tasted. I was hesitant to add the horseradish (since I dislike horseradish but went ahead and used it in the recipe. The prime rib came out great even with the horseradish (which is not too overpowering. My friend confessed that he usually doesnt like prime rib but loved this one I prepared. Thanks Tyler!

This recipe is so perfect. A salted crust usually means you have to remove the crust when its done/before you serve. Not sure why recipe didnt state that. TYLER FLORENCE (not Bobby Flay knows his stuff!!

If any of the previous reviewers had seen the show they would know to cut the salt crust off! ALWAYS when preparing a roast with a salt rub/crust it is policy to cut it off before carving. The salt crust is only to flavor the meat while roasting. If you've used the horseradish, then it is also served on the side ... NOT the salt/hr crust, but a bit of prepared horseradish.
This is a terrific recipe when used correctly!

Too much salt but otherwise really good. Could have used more Horseradish but that is just me.

The Horseradish crust was great. Although, for me I needed a little extra on the side.

I've never cooked prime rib before. I cooked this for Christmas Day dinner for my entire family and it was a real hit! Very easy to prepare, and I used the drippings to make gravy. The only problem was it was way too salty! Next time I'll just cut down the amount of salt used.
