My husband and I had this recipe at our friends house, and this might be the best prime rib recipe we have ever had. The crust was just delicious.

We made this for our Thanksgiving dinner and could not have been more impressed. The flavor was incredible, (why would anyone think that you are supposed to eat the crust? All that salt? Come on folks, think!! I can't wait to make this again!
We also make the creamed spinach from the same episode......amazing! Thank you Tyler!!

I had a horrible experience with this recipe, made worse by the fact that I think Tyler Florence is a god. The recipe calls for ONE-HALF CUP of sea salt in the rub. I was very wary of that, but I went ahead and followed the recipe exactly.

The vegetables I put in with the roast absorbed so much salt from bits of falling crust that they were inedible.

Likewise, the roast ended up so heavily salted that the little we were able to eat made my husband and I sick for an evening. AND I ruined a twenty-seven dollar roast!! That "one-half cup" direction MUST be wrong!

Too much salt used in this recipe. It completely overruled the flavors of everything else.

I'd recommend trimming it back to 1/4 Kosher salt.

Would have been good - but too salty - a few tablespoons would work - not 1/2 cup - it was so salty you could hardly eat it.

The flavors in the recipe blend very nicely together however it was too salty. I had read that comment from others but decided to try the recipe as is because we do like things salty. Even my husband who is a salt-a-holic thought it too salty. I will try it again but cut the salt a good bit.
