Tried this recipe for Thanksgiving for the 1st time and will certainly do it again...The best dressing I have ever tasted, sooo flavorful and delicious!! Could not find roasted chestnuts in my small town. Found fresh chestnuts and roasted them myself, even better so they were fresh, and what a nice combination with the other ingredients. Everyone loved it!! can't wait to do it again...

I made this dressing 4 years ago for Thanksgiving; it was the best dressing I had ever made. I decided I would use only this recipe but promtly lost it. Every year since I have been trying to replace this recipe with others, hoping my husband would like the dressing as much as we loved this one. No other recipe that I have found worked. I was so happy to find it agian and this recipe will now become the staple for Thanksgiving in my home. PS it is now saved in several locations in order to make sure it does not get lost again.

A most delicious dish. Made it last year and it was a hit, so it'll be on the table again this year. To those of you who are finding it difficult and expensive to get chestnuts, I just bought a 20 ounce bag of Galil organic chestnuts shelled and ready to go at Costco for $4.99 - cant beat that!

I have made this recipe 2 times a year for the last 2 years and love it. The last several times I have omitted the chestnuts as they do not add anything to the recipe in my opinion (especially for the cost and it has worked out really well. I did use raisons in one of the batches to add a slight twist and that worked well too.
I have also learned that it is best to not use the sandwhich loafs as the bakery sourdough adds a lot more to the recipe and holds up better.
Overall, has to be my favorite recipe for dressing!

I thought this dressing was just okay. It could be my personal taste, but I did not find the stuffing to be very flavorful. The sage was prominent, but that was the only real flavor. This dressing was not bad, it just was not anything spectacular.

I have been making this dressing for years, and every year around halloween, all i hear are request for this dish. It is a delicious, easy recipe to make. I have stoped roasting my own chestnuts since the super market now sells them roasted and deshelled which makes my life a lot easier. I highly recommend this!

Does anyone know if I can make this the night before? I'm going for it but hoping the results are as amazing as the reviews for those made the day of. Thanks!

Although the chestnuts are a lot of work, the dish turned out great! Everyone raved about the flavor, however the consistency was just a bit off and it didnt stay together like I would have liked. It was likely my error though as I was in a hurry.
I highly recommend trying this recipe though!

Best Dressing Recipe!! Have been making this recipe every Thanksgiving for the past five years. I prepare lots of food for a potluck Thanksgiving dinner at a friends house every year...she invites 20-30 people and every year people will ask if I'm going to be bringing this dressing again this year...that's how good it is. I prepare it the day before and I don't cook it until after the turkey comes out of the oven. Comes out perfect every time.

I made this last year for Thanksgiving. I had a hard time finding the chestnuts, but alas, I found them at Trader Joes. I chopped all the veggies and chestnuts together in the processor and then sauteed. I then added this to the cooked sausage and bite-sized bread chunks. I had to add a little more broth because it looked a bit dry. Turned out amazing!
