I made this for my family tonight. They loved it! I only had nonfat Greek yogurt, it still went well with. I noticed that someone made a comment about the meat not being like the restaurant's. What did you expect a leg of lamb to come out like? The commenter was expecting a boneless compressed piece of gyro meat. Perhaps, you should try ground lamb meat. I'm sure you will like that better. Overall, this recipe is a keeper! my kids even loved it and they are 1 and 8.

The meat was delicious, but I do not recommend using the recipe for the tzatziki sauce. It didn't have a lot of flavor. I found one that added dill and garlic along with our cream and it was amazing with the meat!

The lamb was amazing! I did read other recipes for the tzatziki sauce and would recommend some of those tips: strain the yogurt with a cheesecloth over a bowl for an hour in the fridge. (I used no-fat greek yogurt and it was fine. Also, peel and seed the cukes, GRATE, put in a collander to drain, sprinkle a 1/2 tsp salt and let the salt draw out the moisture for 15-20 minutes before folding into the yogurt. I added minced garlic, a bit of dill and the mint and lemon juice as described in the recipe. My boys (who had never had gyros LOVED the meal (they are 13 and 15. We will make this again!!!!

Phenomenal! The lamb was awesome! The gyros tasted just like I would get in a restaurant. Thanks!

This was amazing! The marinade for the lamb was very flavorful. I made a few slight changes since I wasn't using as much lamb as in the original recipe but essentially everything remained the same. I thought it was better than any other gyro I have ever had in a restaurant.

My family loves this recipe, and I've made it three times now. It's still a tiny bit "lamby" for me, but the tzaziki makes it easily edible for me. The rest of the family gobbles it up. Easy enough and not too time consuming, ingredients are easy to get. It has become part of my regular lamb recipe collection.

It turned out really well and my whole family loves it. We are planning to make this for Easter as my Mom used to roast lamb for Easter and I never found a recipe I really liked till now.

Thanks Tyler, once again you blew us away.

My husband loved this. He gave it four stars and would have given it five except that he says you can't give anything a five. I thought it was just okay. It was my first attepmt to make lamb. My kids didn't like it. For lack of a better word the meat tasted "farmy". I think less olive oil could be used for the garlic paste. Mine was more like a soup. And the cooking time could be adjusted. We cooked for 1 hr. and it was dry. It was also a little time consuming. The sauce was good. My husband doesn't like mint so I substitued green onion. At the suggestion of my mother I also used 1 c. sour cream, and 2 c. yogurt to make it thicker. The sauce was good. We also added red onion to the sandwiches. I'm glad I made the attempt, but I think I'll stick to restaurants.

I was expecting something different. I think the tzatziki sauce is too runny but tasted good. The lamb is more of a roast instead of gyro meat. Gyro meat I thought was ground lamb that's seasoned and then put on a spit and cooked and sliced off. I don't know, it's just not what I expected.
