I used this for my first course at Thanksgiving. All my family was there, and I am now revered for my cooking skills. LOL! I didn't tell them how easy this was to make. It is the best tomato soup I have ever had! No more canned tomato soup for me!

Fabulous! Vegetarians in our family so used veg stock. It was so well received I made two batches of this every week when we got our farm share last summer. The versatility of it is wonderful, and I usually skip the dairy. To our tastes it MUST have an heirloom tomato in it. It was so well loved I froze several batches (without dairy. We have been delighted to find it just as delicious after being gently reheated. Am planning to make and freeze MUCH more this coming summer. Thank YOU, Tyler!!

I typically do not enjoy tomato soup and this is now one of my favorite things to eat!! Pair it with a good grilled cheese sandwich and it makes for a great evening. I made a half batch for Christmas and will be making a double batch next time and freezing the leftovers. I didn't take out the bay leaf before using the immersion blender last time and ended up with little bits of bay leaf stuck in my teeth. Live and Learn, next time I will definatley remember to do so. Other than that, this is the perfect soup!!

Simply amazing! And so easy! I used 3 Vine, 3 Beefsteak, and a bag of Cherry tomatoes...a delicious combo! Using only 1 bay leaf, I felt that the soup was rich enough with the chicken stock and butter that there was no need for the heavy cream. I saved those calories and added parmigiana crisps on top!

Remove the bay leaves, right? In any case, just delicious...I'll never use canned tomato soup again!

This is a very good, classic tomato soup recipe. Homemade is so much better than the canned stuff, and it really does not take much time or effort. My tomato-hating boyfriend eats this and loves it. I like to pair it with tomato, basil, and mozzarella sandwiches - SO GOOD! I usually make this recipe using a large can of San Marzano tomatoes in place of the fresh tomatoes, and it tastes just as good and takes less prep time. I also substitute veggie broth for chicken broth so it's vegetarian. This is always my standby food for cold, rainy days.

I have a question: does "core" translate to removing just the stem core or removing the pulp and seeds also?

SUPER delicious tomato soup! Not your ordinary, out-of-the-can tomato soup....ANYONE can make this, it's so easy! Even my 4 year old loved it! I will make this again and again and again...very hearty and savory. Would not change a thing!
