I made this tonight and an very glad I read the comments first..what a major screw up for the editor..In any case I just cant get past the bitterness of the vegetable..I boiled/blanched it longer than called for and added a little sugar but still it was bitter..No one liked it and we wont be making this again any time soon. If anyone can tell me how to get rid of the bitter taste, I'd love you to share that with me

Ingredients
? Large bunch of broccoli rabe--it wilts
? Extra-virgin olive oil--cover bottom pan
? 2 large cloves minced garlic (on TV he just smashed it
? 1 good pinch of red pepper flakes--to taste
? lemon zest--optional (he didn't use it on TV, but it is in the title(!? and a little zest and/or lemon juice would be a classic addition
? chicken stock--to make a glaze with butter
? butter--1T to start
? Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions
Take a large pot of salty water and bring it to a boil. Cook broccoli rabe in water for 3 to 5 minutes until tender and bright green. Drain well in a colander and set aside.
In a large saute pan heat a 2 count of extra-virgin olive oil (to cover the bottom of the pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and pepper flakes to release flavors in oil then toss in the broccoli rabe. (Add lemon zest and/or juice if desired. Add a little chicken stock and butter to make a classic glazed look. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, gently tossing it in the pan. Give it 1 final taste and season with S & P, if necessary. Serve immediately.

You can't even follow this recipe! The ingredients list doesn't even call for Lemon Zest and what is a " head count" of Extra Virgin Olive Oil?!
Where is the editing? Poor!

The recipe itself is good, but it appears The Food Network is making more and more mistakes in their typing up of these recipes for the website. There are often missing ingredients and missing steps in preparation. Do the chefs know that their recipes are being screwed up?? Can't give a good rating for a recipe with missing steps or ingredients can we? Maybe the person responsible for putting these recipes onto the website should be monitored more closely or fired. It's very aggravating to everyone as I see by the other comments. But I see no changes being made. Maybe that same person is the one reading the comments.

I recently watched an episode for the broccoli rabe with garlic and lemon and the receipe that was on the show does not match the receipe that was shown on the website. I would like the exact way that Tyler made the broccoli rabe on his show. what happened to the butter he put in the pan.
thank you

My hubby loves brocolli rabe and for that reason we have made this several times, but I have to mention that there is lemon zest mentioned both in the title and at the end of the recipe, but the not in the ingredient list and the amount of zest to be used is never mentioned. Are we supposed to use our own discretion? And if so, that should be mentioned.

This is an excellent side dish. Even my 13 year old son went back for seconds and thirds.
