I wanted something different than the same old potatoes for the holiday meal, so I tried the Scalloped Potato Gratin. This recipe was so delicious and easy to make. I was looking like a pro in my kitchen. I will be definately putting this on the 'must serve list' for Christmas dinner from now on.

made these tonight as a "test" for an upcoming family dinner and they were very good. i used 3 potatoes instead of 2, but other than that, followed the recipe as written. one minor mention - took longer than 45 min. (which was no big deal. i used a 1-1/2 qt. casserole dish cause i had smallish potatoes.

This is a very good receipe. I didn't believe only two potatoes would feed that many people, but it's very rich. A nice side dish with ham.

This was wonderful. I served this with a different prime rib recipe than the one listed. I followed one reviewers suggestion and added some fontina cheese along with the parmesean. I cooked mine a little longer than what was recommended because my prime rib was not done yet. I lowered my oven temp to 250 degrees so that it would not overcook but yet stay hot. Consequently, the top browned nicely without having to broil it. A definite keeper!

I remember my mom's when I was a kid and they did not taste as good as this. Even though I cut my potatos thinner it still came out perfect.

I made this recipe without alterations, and it was simple, elegant and delicious. I would only add a bit more garlic next time. Who couldn't use more garlic, anyway???

I have never made scallop potatoes before and was amazed at the simplicity and taste of this recipe. The first time I made this recipe, I misread the last part about adding or coating the top with cheese and placing it in the broiler for five minutes more. It still had the right flavor but not the crust. Additionally, I couldn't find just straight heavy cream, I used whipping cream. The second time I made this came out better than the first. Here's why: I used 3 potatoes instead of 2. I peeled and quartered and sliced the potatoes in my Cuisinart. It did the work in a fraction of the time. I found the heavy cream at Trader Joe's and it was only $1.99 for 16oz.. I placed the cheese at the end of the baking and broiled for 5 minutes more to give it a very nice crust. This is a repeat side dish. There were no leftovers.
