So easy- my husband said it was like a deep dish potato pizza. One thing to note was that there was lots of salt from seasoning the potatoes every step- next time I will season them all in a small bowl before layering.

Fantastic!! This is a very simple and easy recipe, and the end results is fabulous. A few changes I made: I didn't have fresh thyme so I left it out, and I only smashed the garlic. I didn't chop the garlic up. I also used a mixture of parmesan, mild cheddar, and monterey jack cheeses to add extra flavor. I will definitely be making these again!

Wow Tyler - really good recipe! I cook a lot but didn't really know how to make scallopped potatoes. Just for 2 people, I used four yellow potatoes, about a cup of cream (heated in microwave, shaker parmesan, dried thyme, fresh garlic, a little hot paprika, salt and pepper. Then when it was basically done, I added about 1.5 cups (5oz of shredded aged cheddar to the top and poured a little more cream on. I cooked it in my Advantium oven/microwave which has a scallopped potatoes setting for 2 quarts. I didn't adjust it at all, except at the end when the cheddar was melted I used only the top halogen light for 3 minutes to brown it a bit. The results are fantastic - in about 20 minutes. I could eat the whole dish on my own.

This was my first attempt at making scalloped potatoes... Huge success!! Prior to making this dish, I read several reviews. I then decided to add onion & cheddar for some added flavor. I am not sure if i sliced the potatoes too thick, but it took about 30 extra minutes than the recipe called for. But so worth the wait! My boyfriend was so happy with the outcome of this! Thank you everyone for the suggestions!

I added more garlic than the recipe called for and added mozzarella along with the parmesan. It turned out awesome. Definitely something that goes well with a lot of dishes, simple to make and a winner all around.

I love this dish as a side to steaks. For all that wished this had more flavor... it is a side dish, much like a fettucini alfredo that doesn't overpower, but complements. It's perfect as is.

I read all the other reviews before I made it and it was great! I sliced the potatoes very thin, added onion and a little bit of cheddar, mixed it like a casserole, covered it, and actually baked it at 400 because my oven tends to run cool. Turned out great!
