Instead of Peanut oil, use sesame seed oil.

I made this tonight after I saw Tyler make this dish on TV over the weekend. I used brown rice, added left over fresh vegetables - asparagas, zucchini, mushrooms, carrots - while cooking the napa cabbage. I didn't measure the shrimp just used what looked good from a bag of frozen medium shrimp. My husband and I both really enjoyed it and I will definitely make this again. I think next time we will add more garlic. Plus we have leftovers for lunch tomorrow!! Thanks, Kathy G., Evanston IL

You can really make fried rice a thousand ways. Whatever you want to put in it, however you want it to taste like. It's never going to be an excellent dish. It's just a side dish to the main course, nothing to it. But this is a good recipe to follow if you're making fried rice for the first time. Consider this recipe the base to all fried rices that you will make in the future. Have fun!

I followed the recipe, except that Trader Joe's did not have cabbage so I used bok choy. The recipe is good, but it didn't knock my socks off. I made my own white rice and let it cool since it's so cheap and easy to make.

I think it needs more shrimp or cut the shrimp into pieces. If I made it again I would add some chopped cooked carrots or some red bell pepper for color. It's just green and white and a little boring looking.
