I have never made greens before. I picked up the pre-cut and used smoked turkey wings instead. The smell is awesome and taste is so good. I served mine up with oven chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, bicuits and pepper gravy. Oh man! The taste is fabulous!

Tyler Florence, you the man! I never even tried collard greens before, in spite of having lived in Louisiana for a couple of years. Always been curious, though, so I bit the bullet and looked up recipes on this website and found this one by Tyler Florence. Looked easy and good, so I tried it. Both my hubby and I loved it!

I love this recipe. It gives the right amount of seasoning to have a great pot of greens. I could tell just by the ingredients it was going to be good eating. From this recipe I have made my own, just by adding a few more ingredients, that makes this recipe even better. Tyler Florence is good with cooking soul food and I trust his recipes over Emeril and Paula Deen.

I LOVE greens and I usually make mine like this...except I use bag greens...(when I was a little girl my mother made me pick greens til I was all picked out!!!! They are much easier and faster to use..I also use greens seasoning and cook them the day BEFORE ...just to let all those flavors set in....simply delicous!

I have searched for years experimenting with different recipes for collard greens. This one I just tried and it is without a doubt the very best ever. Everyone that ate them LOVED them. Even those who were not sure if they liked collard greens loved it. Thank you for making my day. Best Ever Collard Greens

My "bunches" were small, so I used 1 qt. broth and 1T cider vinegar (kept other measurements the same. I substituted 4 strips of bacon, cut up and fried, for the ham hock and added a pinch of crushed red pepper to the broth. I always cook greens for Thanksgiving in memory of my Southern mother -- these were the best!

Being from the South, I've tasted a few collard greens so I can honestly say these are outstanding. I would cook longer to break them down a bit more, but the flavor is spot on. My only complaint is with the recipe summary that states prep time as 15 minutes and cook time as 20 minutes - luckily I read through the recipe before budgeting my time for dinner.
