Sometimes it isn't about the look of the dish, but the taste. Next time you should actually put a fork in these delicious things and understand why so many people including myself have fallen in love with them.

We loved this recipe, the only thing my sweet potatoes took a lot longer to bake than 45 min. It was not a big deal, because the flavior made up for the extra time.

Now being 21 I really wanted to create a signature dish that I could bring to our large family's thanksgiving dinner every year. So i gave this dish a try.. and wow! My family raved and raved over this dish. It was the hit of Thanksgiving. The biggest compliment came from my picky 82 year old grandmother when she told me that these were THE best sweet potatoes she had ever had. This is definetly my holiday tradition for years to come.

The reason that I am giving this recipe a 4 star is because I tasted the flour too much on the topping, but I also cooked them too early, I should have cooked them 1 hour before eating. I put them back in the over to see if the topping could melt more but it was too late because everyone was ready to eat and the turkey was getting cold on the table...my mistake. overall everyone loved the flavor and thought it was a very original recipe. will make it again for sure!!!!!

I was a little confused between yams and sweet potatoes on this one - but I used yams (because they looked like the picture and were more the size and shape of baking potatoes. They were perfect -- another little quirk was running out of oven space due to a 25lb. bird, but I baked them in the top of my gas grill - it worked perfectly - all my Thanksgiving guests agreed that this is one to repeat every year!!

I made these for Thanksgiving and my family loved them. I generally make a sweet potatoe casserole, but not any more. This will be on my holiday menu every year. Yummy!!

This is my family's favorite sweet potato recipe, and if I don't make it for Thanksgiving dinner I'll never hear the end of it! I bake the potatoes in the oven the night before. On Thanksgiving day I scoop out the flesh, place it in a casserole dish coated w/ cooking spray, reheat the potatoes, then add the topping and bake according to directions. So yummy! As far as the one star review, I don't know how someone could rate a recipe when they never even tried it!

I made this for Thanksgiving in 2007 and found it to be a lot of work. Also, one stuffed sweet potato was just too big a serving with all the other foods we had for Thanksgiving. It was very messy trying to scoop the filling out to eat and the skins just got in the way on our crowded dinner plates.

This year, I'll be precooking the sweet potatoes, peeling them and cutting them in large chunks and putting them in a casserole dish sprayed with cooking spray. I like a little orange flavor, so I'll squeeze some fresh orange juice over the potatoes before topping them with the streusel.

This recipe is a great variation on Grandma's marshmallow-topped sweet potatoes. I like it because it isn't as sticky sweet as the original, but it is still sweet enough you could almost serve it as a dessert (as a pie!
