This pie was great. I used a store bought pie crust and it was still very good. My family enjoyed it very much. My husband is not very fond of sweet potatoes but he liked this pie. Thanks tyler for this great recipe.

This is a fabulous pie. Make sure to leave plenty of time because there are a lot of steps to it, but well worth the time. One reviewer said they used a prepared pie shell. The crust was one of the best parts of this recipe. I wouldn't skip it.

Instead of a pie I made this in a tart pan. I also whipped the potatoes a bit longer in the food processor and it was very light and fluffy. I'm not a big fan of praline but I thought I'd try it and it was fantastic and everyone loved it. Yes I will make this again with the praline topping, it made this pie even better than I thought it could be. This was a good change from the normal pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving.

I made this pie the afternoon following the first airing of the episode because I was that excited. I had never heard of Steen's cane syrup but found it at the local farmer's market. The pie crust came together quickly. My sweet potatoes baked for nearly an hour (15 minutes past the suggested time because I bought two large potatoes instead of a many small ones. Noted for the future. Since I'm allergic to eggs, I replaced them with half of a cup of plain yogurt. It didn't alter the taste or texture. The five other people who ate the pie couldn't tell a difference. I also doubled the praline topping because I really love pralines.

This is a perfect pie that plays to the seasonal flavors of cinnamon and nutmeg. Sweet potato pie is a excellent and indulgent breakfast when consumed with coffee. I will be making this year round.

If you love sweet potato and pecan pie, this brings together the best of both worlds. I don't normally make a crust from scratch but I am so glad I did this time. It is very easy to do if you mix it all together in a food processer -- just be sure to let it chill as specified in the recipe. The crust adds a wonderful dimension to the pie. The sweet potato filling is perfect and you get the wonderful flavor of pecan pie on top (but the sweet potato keeps it from being overly sweet. This pie does take some time to put together but it is WORTH IT! I did not have the cane syrup but karo dark corn syrup worked just fine in its place. Thank you Tyler for a wonderful recipe.

ON th show Tyler tells us to put the baking sheet into the oven to get it hot. How long do you pre-heat the sheet pan before baking the pie?

Aside from a King's Cake, this will be PERFECT for the Mardi Gras potluck at work that we're having backstage at Disneyland, CA! Can't wait to make it in the next few days for Mardi Gras 2010!

I made this after watching on saturday morning. I did use a ready made pie crust but followed everything else exactly. Loved it. Probably the best sweet potato pie I've ever had. That's saying a lot from some one in South Carolina. Do yourself a favor and make this.
