I messed up and used the whole can of chiles, too, but I have to make baked beans for a crowd this weekend so I thought I'd try again and do it the right way this time! However, looking at the recipe, I'm still confused. Three 28-oz cans of beans for 6 servings? That's a lotta beans! I need to make baked beans for 100 people, so I need better quantities to estimate with!

@ Yarder - you gave this recipe one star because you messed up?

Probably the worst thing I've made from here EVER! Yes, I was one of those that put in an entire CAN of Chiles - note the plural part.

Warning to all. If you should put in an entire can of chipotle chiles in adobo instead of just a single chile (singular out of the can, you will do what happened to me at dinner tonight.

It's so hot that we were blowing snot bubbles!

These seriously are the best! I usually use 3 medium to large or 4 smaller of the adobo chilies from 1 can (you arent supposed to use the whole can. Also, I regularly replace the pancetta with bacon (it works just as well!. I have never actually made it in individual dishes like the recipe calls for, I just combine everything in one big baking dish. And if you can't find Canneloni beans, Great Northern Beans work great as a replacement.

To correct the cooking time, let ribs sit out for about an hour before putting in the oven.

I loved the this recipe which calls for the cannelloni beans instead of the traditional red beans. If done correctly, the heat is just right. The bacon and rosemary add a great flavor. Everyone loved it. Thanks, Tyler, for another winner!

This recipe is amazing. Has just a bit of zing and the rosemary is such a great compliment. I always get rave reviews when I make these.

NOTE: For those who say it is too hot - YOU ONLY NEED 1 CHILE. The recipe has a typo. It's not one whole can (bless you poor folks who used the whole can.

I can understand why so many are confused about the amount of chilis to use in this recipe. The recipe calls for ONE canned chili in adobo sauce, not one CAN of chilis.... That is one chili in sauce from a can of chilis. I agree with many others also about preferring smokey bacon over pancetta. Maybe it is a southern "thang"..LOL Personally, I have never tasted a baked bean recipe that can top the one in Aunt Bea's Mayberry Cookbook...it is Da Bomb!!! Every single time I have ever made it, the recipe is always asked for and there are never any left to bring home...no matter how many times I multiply the basic recipe! Tyler's is okay, but I wouldn't make it again!
