This is soooo good. Never would I have thought to deep fry a banana for a banana split. The batter gets so fluffy and the little bit of cinnamon really adds wonderful warmth to the dessert. The caramel sauce definitely didn't turn out, but I've tried several recipes and can't seem to make them. Must just be my own enemy. I'd just buy a jar to make this easier. So delicious! Worth the calories. Just hit the gym hard core before and after!!

We made the bananas and used store bought caramel sauce. The bananas turned out tender and decadent! Of note, the batter is enough for at least 5-6 bananas.

This was really really good but the whole caramel sauce was hard i tried it twice and i never got it like he did. but i used regular store bought sauce and it was still really good. It took me probably twice as long as it took him, but in the end it was a very pleasent dessert. and i will do it again.

This dessert is definitely delicious! I am a big fan of banana split and I never came across one that was cooked this way. HOWEVER, my sister and I did modify the caramel sauce a bit. We added approx. 1 1/2 cups of water and 2 tbsp. butter to the sugar and cooked it on high for about 5 mins. or until it turns brown, stirring occasionally. This caramel stiffened when put on top of the ice cream. Muy delicioso!

I made this dessert yesterday. The bannana part turned out great (except for heavy clean-up related to the oil. Make sure to keep the pecans in the pan on low heat for only several minutes or they will burn. Here comes the problem...the caramel sauce. When you watch the show, Tyler spend about 20 seconds on the sauce. He basically mixed sugar and water and after some medium heat for a while, you are supposed to get caramel. It didn't work this way for me, and I suspect that making caramel is at least an intermediate technique, if not an art form. Also, the TV show only showed Tyler adding butter and salt to mixture, not heavy cream like the online recipe mentioned. In my case, since I ruined the caramel anyway, I'm not sure it would have made a difference. Overall, I would like to see better editing and convergence with show and online recipe. Otherwise, I may just need to take notes and use my TIVO more often while watching Tyler in person! However, great bannanas!

I have never rated a recipe before...but this is the most amazing dessert. THe bananas are a cross b/t Krispy Kreme donuts and fruit and are so light and delish. I had to post a review when I saw no one had rated it yet. must try!
