This recipe is awesome, it was easy to follow and tasted great. My husband said it was excellent, excellent, the best beef stew he has ever had. The one thing I think people should know is to make sure you don't burn the oil if you have to cook the meat in batches. I washed out the pan the second time I made this in between cooking the two batches of meat and the oil didn't look burned. Also, don't buy pre cut meat. You want two inch pieces, because it is so tender in the end, little pieces would break up too much.

Amazing Stew. The flavor is unique and unlike any other stew I've ever tasted or made. I just made it again. Realizing that my fist time was over 5 years ago. As soon as the first hint of fall arrives, its what I want to make. My family and friends request it often, I've brought it to work and shared with co workers. Everyone has absolutly loved it. I would not change on thing about the receipe. Thank you Tyler, you are an amazing cook. And the cost is not an issue for me, not when you enjoy something as much as my family, friends and I do. Thanks to Food Network as well.

My first stew and it turned out great. I didn't have those little onions. I divided my big onion into little chunks. I didn't have white mushrooms. I used other kinds instead. It was a delicious meal and I will be making it again.

I was captivated by this recipe from the first time I read it (didn't see the show, so was egar to try it. There are a lot of steps, so you want to try this when you know you have time. That said, the end result is well worth the effort.
Don't be daunted by reviews that say there are too many spices. I agree with Jessica that the idea here is to take something ordinary, and make it extraordinary, and Tyler has certainly done that here. The flavor combination is amazing, I would never have thought to add orange zest to a beef dish, but so glad I tried it. I would add that while I like the orange undertone, I think I'll cut the zest by half the next time. I used zest from the whole orange and found it to be too much, but agree that it adds something wonderful to the dish.
Lastly, I think that this stew will make a great base for a shepherd's pie or individual pot pies as well... lots of possibilities...!
Thanks Tyler!

Loved this... I cut the wine back a bit and added a little more beef stock. Subbed the pearl onions for chopped yellow onion. I also left out the potatoes and served it over mashed potatoes. It was a huge hit! This is a favorite at our house...

Absolutely delicious. I did follow the advice of others and cut the wine back to a cup and a half and added a bit more beef stock. I also cut the amount of cloves in half as I am not a fan of the strong taste of cloves, and it was perfect. The meat melted in your mouth. Plus the whole house smelled delightful!

DEFINITELY an amazing recipe. Flavors are really rich. The meat comes out so tender. At first i was worried that the cloves would be too strong but by the end of the cooking time you could just barely smell it but the flavor was there. Just right. I personally liked the orange/cloves. I think it gave it a different yet amazing flavor. That's why it's the ultimate.
The only reason I didn't give it Five stars is because I did tweak the recipe a bit after reading the reviews.
* I used a cup of Cabernet wine instead of a whole bottle and I put like 6 cups of beef broth and a little extra water since I wanted to have enough liquid to soften the veggies.
*The horseradish sauce is the PERFECT addition to take the recipe to the top.
