How does anyone make this right? My caramel sauce was delicious, but the pie was full of liquid and I had to pour it out through the slits in the top crust. Then the pie didn't taste like caramel, just like kind of bland apples. It was good, but not great, and definitely not caramel-ly!

I have made this pie over and over again and it's always the first one gone, and everyone's favorite. It requires patience and the ability to follow directions. Definitely not your throw everything in a prepared shell and go, but worth all the work.

I made this pie for Thanksgiving and it was a hit. I ended up using 6 apples instead of 8 and there was still some left over. I would recommend cutting it down to 4-5 apples. As for the sauce my first attempt crystallized. On my second batch I only used 2 teaspoons and stirred frequently until it thickened up. It wasn't as watery then. I will definitely make this dish again.

I won the spatula award from my family this year at Thanksgiving for making this apple pie. The flavors are so wonderful and the sliced apples stayed crisp. Wonderful!!!

The pastry worked out well in this, but the recipe was horribly difficult to follow. There was far too much liquid, I had to make the caramel sauce twice before I thought I had it correct. There were almost twice as many apples as needed which went to "waste" since they were already cut and floured. Because of the excess liquid I had to pour some out after the first slice and it made the bottom of the crust soggy. I would recommend choosing another apple pie recipe if that's what you're looking to make. Having tried the recipe and reading the reviews I'm surprised this still even has 4 stars. Misleading...

This pie was difficult to make....and the main reason is the sauce. the recipe really does deviate from the video. I tried 2 different times to get it right and I just couldn't. the end result was a pie full of liquid. I poured a lot of it out because I didn't want my pie to get soggy, and it was Alright. Kind of bitter, I would say not to use so much wine as the written recipe says to do. I do not think I will try this one again, too many reviews such as mine. I will Have to try a different recipe.

My only problem with this pie was the excess liquid-- it never thickened. Instead, we had a flash flood of caramel wine sauce when I cut into the pie. No bueno. Otherwise, the pie was yummy and absolutely beautiful. I just wish I could've kept the sauce in the pie for a stronger flavor.

I can't believe this pie is getting good reviews. I was extremely disappointed, as I spent a lot of $ to make two of these pies for T-Giving (one for my family, one for my boyfriends family. The sauce was delicious, yet did not taste anything like caramel (more like sugary wine, and after the pie baked, the sauce lost all of its flavor. I was eating plain apples and crust. The pie had a lot of excess liquid that did not thicken and was soaking the crust. Overall, I will never make this pie again it was horrible.
