I have to rate a three, it is a great idea though and with some modifications it works! First, lasagne noodles do not have to be cooked. Use them dry (the normal ones, not the "quick ones" and cover the whole thing with foil during cooking, uncover it for the last bit to brown. You wind up with a rich lasange that is not watery. I use toothpicks to prop up the foil so I don't wreck the cheese. The other part, with the cinnamon, powder would be overpowering, simmer with a cinnamon stick, works perfect...just a hint of "oh what is that flavor, no, cinnamon? really?! oh wow!" And I also wouldn't puree the onions etc, a fine chop is nice. Oh ya, HALF the recipe! 8 people do not eat four pounds of meat!! or two quarts of cheese! Add the fresh spices near the end of the simmer time to keep that "fresh" taste. I think those that didn't like this recipe would enjoy with my suggestions!

What happened? With the exception of using a deep baking dish 1 inch longer than the recipe called for and a different brand of tomatoes I followed the instructions exactly as written. Minor problems: lots of left over lasagna noodles and prep. time was way, way over 20 mins. Major problems: not much flavor (I prefer more tomato tasteand too much ricotta which added texture but not much flavor. I didn't find the dish worth the effort it took to make.

This was bursting with so many wonderful and complimentary flavors. Absolutely the best lasagna! My Italian husband agrees and asks me to make this all the time. The first time I made it, it cost $50 and took me 4 hours. That is why I have dubbed it, the "The 4 Hour, $50 Lasagna That's a Labor of Love, That One?".

Lasagna is DELICIOUS! I will have to agree with jj however, in that the recipe is far too much. I ended up making 2 entire 9X13 Lasagnas with this recipe. Other than the recipe churning out two lasagnas instead of one, I have no complaints. If you only want to make 1 lasagna I would cut everything in half except maybe the shredded mozzarella which you do need extra for to put on the top of the lasagna. My noodles also cooked faster than ten minutes in boiling water (I took mine out in about 7

This recipe is ridiculous. There is way more ingredient than can possibly fit into a 9 x 13 dish. There is no way two pounds of noodles would work. I used one pound. I have a huge bowl of leftover bolognese sauce. I threw out a LOT of ricotta mixture. My dish wash exactly like the one Tyler used on the show. It came out soupy and wet. I spent two days cooking this for company and was totally embarrassed to serve it.

Okay it's in the oven; haven't eaten it yet but the sauce tasted good after adding only a pinch of cinnamon and a tsp of sugar. Also, the sauce didn't call for salt and pepper, but I added that too. There's one "measurement " error. If you put half the mozarella on the first layer and the other half on the second layer, where does the other mozarella come from for the top? Seemed like I didn't have much cheese compared to all of the sauce. I halved everything and it filled my 9x13 pan to the brim; expect it to overflow in my oven. I'm sure it will be delish.

I concur on the cinnamon. I used way less than the recipe called for and it was still a little overwhelming so really really light hand on it next time. Also it was a whole lot of food. There is just four of us so I think I will stick with making this for dinner parties.
