This was very juicy and tender! I love bacon but was not sure what to do with it afterwards, snack on it? I also added a little dairy to the gravy- 2TB of sour cream. Delicious! Tomorrow I am looking forward to leftovers :

Good recipe - it was simple and the chicken came out moist. I followed a couple of the suggestions from other reviews and added orange zest to the butter , roasted it the full 1 hour 20 minutes, and added potatoes to the roasting pan. Husband liked it and asked me to make it again.

This chicken was spectacular. I didn't bother with the bacon because I wanted that crispy brown skin. I basted it every 20 minutes or so to achieve this. I also used a lemon instead of an orange, but will try the orange next time.Once finished (about an hour-twenty I made a gravy while it rested. I tilted my pan, skimmed off most of the fat, then added about 1/4 cup of flour and cooked it for a minute to make a roux. Next I added about a cup of chicken stock plus the onion and herbs from the cavity (but not the lemon and mashed them into the gravy. Reduce to thicken and add cream and black pepper as needed.

Lovely roast chicken, I used one about 3 lbs, so cut down on the ingredients accordingly. Also, I did not use the bacon on top (I do bacon strips on top for my turkey, and added a quarter tsp of rosemary to the herbs. For the gravy, I used arrowroot instead of wheat flour. I was cooking this for a person with food allergies. It also took me longer to cook to doneness, but the recipe seems incorrect; it says 1 hr 20 min cooking time up top, and 50 minutes during the recipe instructions? Anyway, I served with mashed potatoes, gluten free stuffing, and green beans and a fruit salad. Meal was a big success.

Aroma and taste was outstanding. Personal preference I will reduce the garlic to 1/4 head. Thank you Tyler for a great recipe.

This was good but the timing was off for me. I pulled it out and it was still pink inside. Once it did cook up it was great. Loved the gravy. Searved with twice baked sweet potatoes and roasted asparagus. I would make it again.
