I have made this recipe so many times, and my husband never tires of it; even my grandchildren loved it and they are hard to please. It is the very best chicken recipe to me in all the world. Love, love, love it. Thank you Tyler.

Very good, simple--beats the store ready-made rotiserrie chicken any day. Husband loved it. Nothing like a roast chicken on a fall evening. I did not use the bacon and skipped the gravy--but stayed true to the remaining ingredients [used dried oregano, however]. I too agree w/ other reviews, I will never again use a lemon inside a chicken, the orange makes a huge difference. Tender, juicy, full of flavor, and plus, unlike the store ready-made versions, I know exactly the spices we're eating. Try this recipe.

This is about the simplest and best tasting roast chicken I make...the herbs permeate the house as it's cooking. Love it!

A fantastic cook's tip for all you hardworking kitchen goers out there: when you remove the giblets from your beautiful bird, I found that quickly hard frying (2 mins the livers in olive oil with a little seasoning really got me through the cooking of this brilliant recipe! For the more indulgent out there, wash the delicate livers down with a glass of that vermouth/sherry you've been chilling :D

This is a great recipe to impress your guest or the family. Definitely have to adjust the cooking time (2hrs. to the size of the chicken. I just checked the temp every time I basted with the oh so delicious broth. Only thing I would change is to double the amount of broth to make MORE gravy.Made it twice and used a red wine, and the second time I used the sherry-both outstanding. Pair it with a salad or vegetables and this recipe is a definite winner.

This was so good! I will never use lemon in my chicken again, the orange was FANTASTIC! I highly recommend adding some small red potatoes and carrots to your roasting pan. You have to love one pan cooking! Like others have said, the cooking time was longer for me (2 hours, but I basted every 20 minutes so that may have added to the time.

Thanks to the person who stated that this was the wrong recipe and that Roast chicken with herbed mushrooms was the recipe I was looking for. When I watched the show this week it was entitled ultimate chicken, but once I looked it up I knew it was not the same recipe. After reading the reviews I realized the mistake.
    Thanks again.
