Very healthy alternative to ground beef. Best sloppy joes weve ever made.

Normally, I really like Tyler's recipes but this one tasted basically like ketchup. I really had to add a lot of spices to make it tasty. I ended up straining some of the ketchup out in the end. I would say there are plenty of better sloppy joe recipes out there.

This was a good recipe. I didn't have yellow mustard, so I used a little of Grey Poupon and Kosciusko mustard. I used organic ketchup and the rest. I let it simmer longer than he suggested and it reduced nicely.
It wasn't as good as I remember my mother's recipe being. However, since I don't have it this will suffice.
It probably is one of the easier sloppy joe's to make, being that all the extra spices you would add are in the ketchup and mustard.
It is a good starting point, let your imagination fly.

I agree with many of the previous reviews on it being too much ketchup and too saucy. I am notorious for loving things extra saucy and goopy, but this was overboard even for me! I'll make this again, but I'll reduce the ketchup and mustard by at least half and maybe add a can of diced tomatoes. A dash of worstichire might also be good.

Super easy for a weekday meal. I made them with ground beef instead of the turkey (it's what I had on hand. They were great! My 10 children loved them and thats not easy to get all of them to love a dinner! The sandwich almost tasted like a McDonalds cheeseburger. Which next time i will probably add cheddar cheese either in the mix or a slice on top like a burger. These are definitly a keeper and a go to for a quick tasty meal.

These were the best sloppy joe's ever, plus they were really easy to make. I didn't use the full amount of ketchup, but added some bbq sauce instead. As a college student on a budget I decided not to go out and buy tomato paste, but it tasted just fine without it. Great recipe, that will last for two more meals, which is great for someone like me!

We found these a little thick and ketchup-y the first time, so I made these adjustments and everyone preferred it to the original recipe:

2 lbs of turkey (easy, since I get it in 1 lb packages & it makes good leftovers
reduce ketchup to 1.5 cups (or even less and add an extra Tbsp of tomato paste
increase wine vinegar to several splashes, or enough to make it less gloppy, more saucy
increase brown sugar to taste, to compensate for the extra vinegar
use about 1/2 brown, 1/2 yellow mustard
