I don't like the sloppy joes that taste like chili and this was perfect. Just like Mom makes. If you don't like it so saucy, reduce the amount of ketchup. I also add a couple of squirts of worcestershire sauce to add a little depth, and make it taste "beefier". Thanks Tyler!

I fixed this last night for my husband and me. I have always used the canned sloppy joe mix, but not any more. This recipe makes a delicious home-made sloppy joe, and it is very easy. I used 1 lb. of lean ground turkey (first time and it tasted just like hamburger and minced onion seasoning. I suggest using only 1 c. ketchup. I used 1 1/2 c. and it was still too much. I served it on toasted wheat hamburger buns. Go make it - it is delicious!

I have never liked Sloppy Joes, but my kids have been begging me to make them. This recipe was so easy and absolutely delicious. I can see this going into the regular rotation.

I used 2lb of ground turkey and only about 1 1/3 Cup of ketchup. I carmelized the onions. The real key is the butternut squash coleslaw, though. It was the perfect counter to the sloppy joes and added a coolness and crispness that was needed.

This was a very easy recipe. I actually made the sauce ahead of time and kept in the frig. until it was time for dinner. Family liked it but we all thought it was a little too sweet...too ketchupy tasting. I will definately make it again with less ketchup and more tomato paste.

I didn't have any of the can sloppy joe mix, so I looked up a recipe and found this, it's so easy and taste better than the can stuff. I will never buy store sloppy joe mix again. All the ingredients everyone has to have on hand!!!!!

My family liked this better than canned sauce by a long shot, but I didn't think it was anything special. However, I admit I used Heinz ketchup as that was what I had in the pantry. I think it was probably too sweet and will try to find a less sugary, more tomatoey ketchup next time for this recipe. As many have said, its a great starting point and a good use for ground turkey and worth experimenting with.

I found this recipe on the internet under a different source then Food Network. I was looking for recipes to make with some ground turkey I had. These were excellent! Loved the flavor and they were so easy to make. I also had whole wheat hamburger buns on hand and it went perfect. The Tyler Florence recipe I have is a bit different then this one.. the one I have asks for apple cider vinegar and whole wheat buns. My meat eating hubby couldn't really tell the difference that it was turkey and not hamburger~He LOVED them and it's now his most requested non-meat recipe!

No turkey at local store, used chuck and drained it before adding rest of ingredients. Other than that followed recipe. Must say, the red wine vinegar at the last is the best touch ever. It really topped off what was already a great tasting dish. Will make this many times over.

We thought these sandwiches were great. (I did not make or use the pickles or slaw though. The only thing added was a small slice of provolone melted on, under the broiler.

The recipe was so simple and it was much better than I ever expected given it's made with turkey instead of beef.

A definite part of our dinner rotation!!
