I did not care for this sandwich the way he prepared it with the arugula mayo and the cheese, but I think I can definitely use it as a building block to make a fantastic steak sandwich. I think the mayo will be fine without the arugula and maybe with just a bit of seasoned salt. I did not care for the cheese, but this was my first time (and last trying gruyere. Next time I will use a different kind of cheese. The steak part was excellent. Will keep plugging away at this one until I get it right.

The best steak sandwich I've ever had-restaurant quality-the arugula mix with the separate cheese mix was a perfect blend of flavors and very satisfying. The cheese is expensive but well worth the treat every now & then-so easy my teenager made it for dinner for the five of us! Thanks again, Tyler, for another delicious recipe!

I am a hugh fan of fennel, and tried the slaw tonite. It was very bland. What a disappointment.

This is a lot of work for a sandwich - totally overwrought for my taste. When I was growing up a steak sandwich was good steak on toasted bread. That's good enough for me (maybe a little horseradish cream sauce. It's a total waste of good prime rib to mask the flavor by smoothering it in cheese sauce, arugula and fennel.

This was just delicious. The cheese is awesome and really makes the sandwich.

Though between the cheese and the steak this was among the most expensive sandwiches I've ever made (only used half the cheese, so if I can find something else to do with it, that'll help, but this was one of the tastiest sandwiches I've ever had. I substituted spinach leaves for the arugala since it was handy and it came out fantastically.
If you can afford the ingredients, I'd strongly recommend putting one of these together.

Tyler hit it out of the park on this one. It is definitively the Ultimate Steak Sandwich. And then some. I didn't make the fennel slaw because fennel isn't my favourite. I topped each sandwich with fresh arugula. A perfect Super Bowl Sunday Sammy! Thanks, Tyler!

For those of us who are fairly average
cooks, this kind of thing is a revelation! It's easy, and SO worth trying; you'll be glad you did!!

We've made the sandwich part (no slaw twice and really like it. The steak was so tender and perfect and the mayo & cheese sauce is really good for something different. We're going to use the steak part as the base for a more traditional philly to try it and I know that will be great too. Nice base recipe for any kind of stead sandwich.

It's really good, I used emmentaler, and did not use the fennel slaw. But it was a delicious creamy version of a steak sandwich.
