Seriously good stuff, y'all. The ice cream isn't even needed....just the pears & chocolate are a dream and it smells like heaven in your kitchen..........

    Fabulous!!!
I cut the recipe to two pears and made it as an anniversary dessert for me and my husband. He absolutely LOVED it. It was light and a nice compliment to the heavy dinner I prepared.

the chocolate sauce compliments the texture and flavor of the poached pears. The ice cream and wafers add a unique addition to the dish. Very well though out. Simple and impressive.

My mother and I saw this on the food network today and she immediately sent me to the store to get pears. We made it this afternoon and it was delicious! I agree it's a bit awkward to eat, but if before serving you take a slice off the "back" side it's more stable on the plate. I found the proportion of cream to chocolate to be a bit too high and the sauce was very thin so I just added more chocolate to make it a bit thicker.

These made the house smell wonderful while cooking. Poaching them whole made them a bit awkward to eat since you have to cut around the core. So I poached another pear cut in half and cored. It was much easier to eat & just as delicious. Also didn't serve with the ice cream and cookie....didn't need them.
