I only added two bananas like someone else suggested and it was enough anymore and the banana would have over powered it. My topping was too wet but I used it anyway and it was great. Nice recipe we will use it every year. I got my son-in-law who won't eat sweet potatoes to eat them now. That is one great recipe. Thanks tyler.

Thought I would try something new with sweet potatoes this year when I saw this recipe on Tyler's Ultimate. Everyone at our Thanksgiving dinner who tried these potatoes loved them. Most people commented on how sweet and tasty they were, like having dessert along with dinner. This one is a definite keeper, just like the other recipes from Tyler's kitchen. Keep them coming.

Not a fan of this recipe at all.
It was much too dry. On the advice of other reviews, I increased the number of potatoes and decreased the bananas to two. The topping did not come out crumbly and it just wasn't tasty. We ended up throwing most of it out.
If I were to try it again, I would make the topping more basic-without the flour, and I would add cream to the potatoes for more moisture.

The other comments confirmed my suspicion that the recipe as is would have too strong of a banana flavor. I was still drawn to the easiness of the recipe and of course it's ingredients. I used 4lbs of potatoes (about 10-12 and only one regular size banana. I also drizzled a little honey and a little maple syrup in to the mixture -- not nearly totaling the 1/4 cup the recipe calls for. The dish turned out great; the topping is irresistible. It's borderline dessert! The potatoes also took about 60-90 minutes to roast.

This turned out fantastic...I did make my own creation though. Remember as your mashing keep tasting adding a little here and there, that's the key to getting this recipe to your liking. I cheated and used (2 bags of Ore-Ida Steam and Mash Sweet Potatoes. Started out with (2 bananas in the oven, ended up only using (1 sm. banana for my taste. 1/2 stick of unsalted butter. Did use 1/4c Honey along with 1/4 tsp cinnamon and 1/8 tsp vanilla and a hint of salt as we do not like salt. Did not put the topping on. Turned out to be perfect with hint of each flavor. Not super sweet or the overpowering taste of banana. Remember, add a little ingredients, mash and taste that's how you'll get a terrific recipe!

I don't eat sweet potatoes, but I make them for my husband. This is the only recipe he requests on Thanksgiving!

I began making this dish two years ago and it became an instant holiday staple... Pass this one down to your kids.

This recipe is crazy good. I made it just like it said and it turned out perfect. I made it for Christmas last year and even my sister in law who HATES sweet potatoes asked for the recipe! This is a must try!
