The first time I made this bread, it was too salty and undercooked inside while burnt on top. I made a few modifications and it comes out perfectly each time.

1 Cut the amount of salt in half.
2 For the second rise in the loaf pan, let the bread rise 30-45 minutes. Mine did not reach the top of the pan, but still came out okay.
3 Bake for 30 minutes uncovered, then cut out a rectangle of foil to place over the top of the bread (don't cover the sides! and bake for an additional 30 minutes.

This bread is incredible! so moist it melts in your mouth. The only issue I had was it took about triple the time to rise, I believe its do to the egg. Egg slows down the yeast, but it was well worth the wait! Best white bread I have made.

There are easier and better recipes.....not a fan........I had issues with rising also...

Too difficult to get the proper temperature for the yeast.......blooming it in warm milk or water works way better.......melt the butter and add after.....and no one needs to separate eggs for bread........

I will give this bread 4 stars because it is delicious. I too did not read the entire post, so used 2 egg whites in the dough. It still was delicious. My brother's bread is the best...so that is why not 5 : Thanks for the recipe!

I made this for the first time yesterday. I didn't read the recipe closely enough and added both egg whites to the mix by mistake. Since I didn't have enough eggs for another egg white wash, I brushed the top with butter.

I opted to used the honey instead of sugar.

I did do the water bath. Just a note to be careful. I placed a cake pan in the oven as it heated and when I added the boiling water, it splattered up on me.

Anyhow, I was worried that the extra egg might ruin the bread, but it turned out absolutely delicious. I think I'll be making this bread frequently. We are going through more bread with my husband working from home. I'm constantly price checking bread to find a loaf that we can all live with that isn't $4.50/loaf. Definitely won't be with this one....

Love, love, love it! I have been sorting through bread recipes looking for a perfect loaf with no luck...until now! Not rock hard on the outside and soft on the inside like most I have tried. Turned out perfect! Followed the recipe exactly and wouldn't change a thing. So long to store bought bread!

Perfection! I've used this recipe as is, added cheese and even cinnamon buns. There's nothing better than fresh bread out of the oven and this is the best, easiest (no kneading? Yes please! recipe there is! I've done it with and without the water in the oven and definitely prefer the crust the boiling water achieves.

Initially, my yeast did not activate, so I tried again and I followed the directions on the package of yeast, instead of the recipe, and it activated and the bread raised perfectly. The bread looked beautiful absolutely beautiful when it came out of the oven and we could not wait to taste it. I used a LeCreuset loaf pan to bake the bread, which I have used in the past with other recipes and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately, the bread did not bake evenly and was raw in the center and bottom. If I had baked the bread any longer, it would have burned. Very disappointing for such a beautiful looking loaf of bread :-( If trying this recipe, you might want to cover the bread with foil once it is the right color and then let it continue baking, so that it is baked throughout.
