everyone in my house loved this including the five guest that were visiting the w-end i made this. used ground chicken b/c already had some in freezer. mixed meatballs by hand instead of using the food processor. had no problem with them falling apart. used only 1 pound of the pasta instead of 2 which i think most people would know was a typo

It was pretty good. My 5 year old loved it and said it was her favorite soup. I thought it was a lot of work. I had a hard time getting the meat balls to work. I'm not sure if I would make it again.

I was suprised that I found chicken sausage w/ apple at my local store. I actually mixed ground chicken with a few of the ground sausages. The posted receipe does omit the breadcrumbs. I used panko bread criumbs. Also, take the casing off the sausage. In previous ratings that was questioned. My husband loved the soup! Especially the meat balls. The apple chicken sausage made the meatballs! It was a definate hit. Make sure you flavor the soup with salt and pepper.

This recipe turned out amazing. I took it to some fellow co-workers to try and they couldn't believe that it was homemade and not store bought. They all said it ranked up there with any gourmet soup. I thought awesome, I knew I was good at cooking but this was just great! Surprisingly it did not need any salt or pepper to taste by the time I was done the flavors meshed together great. I used ground Thyme instead of thyme sprigs. Living here in farm country we are limited to what kinds of meat to buy....NO chicken apple sausage and I really didnt know if it was chicken or sausage lol. So my answer to this was I bought a pound of ground chicken and a quarter pound of ground sausage. I live in a small apartment so I don't own a food processor so i put everything in a bowl and mixed it as if you were making a meatloaf. So, everything held together fine when I went to drop them in the frying pan there were nice diced onions and cheese in the meatballs they turned out amazing. If you skip the food processor step the meat remains more whole and stays together better. Just make sure when you go to mix it with your hand you are wearing gloves because you are working with raw chicken. I also recommend making ALL the meatballs first before you drop them in the pan to brown, this way you know which ones to take out and which ones you just added to the pan. It would also be great with whole grain pasta minus the cheese if you are looking for something more healthy. All in all great recipe

If you want a different great tasting chicken noodle soup try this recipe. I couldn't find apple chicken sausage in moy area so I bought chicken sausage and added an apple. This soup is the best I have tasted. I used fresh tortellini.
I didn't use the 2 pounds as the recipe stated. I think that most of us can look at the recipe and tell that is an error. My family loved this soup, the meatballs were good also. Thanks Tyler for a great recipe.

This must be the best soup I've ever made. I love the chicken meatballs. When I made this soup, I actually was suprised to find apple chicken sausage in my local grocery store. I mixed the sausage with ground turkey and had to add some breadcrumbs to it. Also, with the broth, I added more water. Tyler this is my first dish of yours that I've ever made, absolutely delicious! Thank you!

Just smelling it cooking makes your mouth water!

What are you guys talking about? Tyler used white bread and milk to bind the meat. What a great idea! I used ground turkey, market quit carrying sausage, and it was awesome! My kids are asking for it so the last time I made it, I made extra to freeze. Tyler, way to go. Any more twists on an old fav?

    Copy
and paste the above link into your web browser for a better recipe by Tyler Florence for this soup. Friend on Facebook sent it to me after I told him the trouble with the lack of breadcrumbs, too much tortellini, etc. Tyler mentioned breadcrumbs in his video here but never added them nor were they in the written version of the meatball recipe on Foodnetwork. plus the extra lb. of tortellini was way too much. Glad I read comments first because I did add some breadcrumbs and used just a lb of tortellini Anyway, this soup has a fantastic flavor and I love it but will love it even more by using the recipe in the link above. How could the Foodnetwork version be soooo wrong??

The soup flavor is fantastic. But the recipe is missing bread crumbs in the meatball recipe.I was able to find everything in my local store so I followed the recipe to the T.The meat balls fell apart nothing to bind it, so I would add a little to help them stay together next time.I would also bake them in the oven like he did on his show. That would be a time saver instead of standing at the stove turning them.Other wise great tasting soup sweet and savory!
