What a wonderful dish, I have made it 3 times in the last 2 months. True, true comfort food. Adding the butter to the cooked cabbage is the trick for sweet tasting cabbage! Some people seem to use bacon but it really does need ham....perhaps in Ireland bacon is known as ham?

My family loved this meal! We saw Tyler making this and decided to try it. Normally my kids wouldn't eat cabbage but having it mixed in with butter mashed potatoes and ham and I now have a family favorite recipe!

THIS IS TOTALLY DELICIOUS & COMFORTING. MY IRISH HUSBAND LOVED IT TOO! THE COMBINED FLAVORS & FRESH TASTE OF THE CABBAGE WAS VERY FLAVORFUL. IN A SENSE, IT'S KIND OF LIKE THE ONE POT HAM,CABBAGE,& POTATOES MY MOM MADE WHEN I WAS A KID------HOWEVER,THIS TIME I ACTUALLY THINK IT'S BETTER THAN MOM'S. MAYBE THAT LITTLE ADDITION THE OF GREEN ONION MADE THE DIFFERENCE. I USED HAM OFF THE BONE FROM THE DELI---HAD THEM SLICE A 1 LB. SLAB, IT'S ALL READY COOKED, SO ALL I DID WAS CHOP IT UP. TURNED OUT GREAT. TYLER, YOU ARE FAST BECOMING MY FAV!!!! THIS IS A KEEPER. AND I AGREE THE STEAMED POTATOES DEFINITLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE ALSO.
