Made this last night and WOW!!!!!!! I added a couple of different things that recipe didn't call for. Along with the cod, haddock, crab meat, and scallops, I added smoked paprika. This was a easy recipe that anyone could do and be very pleased with.

and it was great! I never thought I would like fish chowder, but this was very good. I changed a few things. Added some shrimp and scallops with the fish. Would have added quahogs if I had them. Also added chopped carrots and chopped celery with the onions. Didn't have heavy cream. Used half and half. This recipe is a keeper!

First off I had a few substitutions. I used chicken stock. I also used bacon instead of the salt pork. As for the fish, I had Blue Fish - not the best tasting fish on it's own, but really works well in a chowder. I added a few small cans of crab - it thickens the chowder, adds texture, flavor and color. This chowder was simply fantastic. My niece said it was the best she's ever had and she lives on the Coast of Maine.

I saw the show and had to make this chowder..the flavors were fantastic! To help thicken it up..I did cook fresh corn off the cob, and mixed some flour to thicken it up..and added it to the chowder...Wonderful recipe..Great tip about placing the fish in whole it the stew..
