We cooked this recipe and followed it to a T. It came out tough. I would suggest smoking it on a BBQ or crockpot the butt. Very disappointed. Did not "pull" like Tyler's did on TV. CHEWY!

This recipe is fabulous. The slaw is perfect with the pork. HOWEVER, the recipe needs adjusting re: cooking time. 3 1/2 hours is not enough roasting time. I roasted it for 5 hours, pulled it apart, and put it in a slow cooker for another hour. It was necessary to add a bit of water. Everyone LOVED it !!!

Made this for Memorial Day - it was a hit with everyone! I marinated meat overnight and roasted for over 4 hours. (Thanks to a tip I covered my pan with foil and it was a big help with clean up. My husband is bbq'd challenged and anything more than hot dogs & hamburgers throw him off. So the fact that I could make this in the oven was key. First time for the pork and first time making coleslaw but according to my family it won't be the last! We would have liked a little more sauce for the sandwiches - that is the only issue and the only thing that stopped me from giving this 5 Stars!!

I made this recipe for Memorial Day and it was good; however, here are a few tips:
Marinate the meat overnight, 3 hours is not long enough. If you want traditional pulled pork you MUST cover the meat while cooking. Meat will never shred if you cook it uncovered regardless of cooking time or marbling.
If you do decide to go the traditional rout, you will need a BBQ sauce to go with it.
If you prefer your meet sliced then leave it uncovered the entire time and you will not only have sliceable meat, but a great crust.
Rub for this recipe worked well however, if you taste it before hand it is awful!

I haven't made the pulled pork yet, but tonight I made the coleslaw to go along with a brisket. It was fabulous. I highly reccomend this recipe.

After completing the receipe and letting the roast "rest," we had the most delicious sandwich you can imagine. The meat was suculent and the added thick slice of red onion and touch of BBQ sauce was great. Thanks Tyler!

I don't ever cook meat like this because I don't know how. I am a simple cook but I wanted to give my husband a special dish that he had growing up. It was so easy to do and the house smelled wonderful. My husband ate until he was going to bust. The meat was so tender and the cole slaw was the best I have ever tasted, so creamy. My husband was in such awww of my ability. Tyler it is definitely the ULTIMATE. I will make again and again!
