Should the apples really only be halved? That doesn't seem to make much sense. I didn't see the episode, but can someone clear up how sliced the apples should be. Are the apples acutally quartered or sliced and arranged in the skillet? 8 apple halves in a skillet then trying to put bread on top is nonsense.

I know that I can always count on my buddy Tyler to have a great recipe for pretty much anything! And this is NO exception!
I made this for my family for our Father's Day Brunch, and EVERYBODY loved it. I unfortunately didn't have enough!
I think I could've cooked the caramel less, but it was still so delicious!
    Thanks Tyler!

I made this recipe for my husband last Father's Day and plan to make it again this Father's Day - it was a HUGE hit -- and so delicious. Sinfully so.

Thanks Tyler. Love watching you and trying out your recipes.

This is a great recipe. It is like an Original Pancake House apple pancake but done with challah and cran-pecans. Really nice twist. Always a pleasure making a Tyler Florence recipe. The man really has it all together. Thanks.

I also let this sit for 10 minutes before inverting. It was delicious! Will be making this a brunch staple.

I will admit that I overcooked my caramel a bit, but nevertheless, this was one tasty dish and very easy to assemble. It will get another shot in my house.

Used an 11" square skillet, and it took six slices of bread - almost the entire challah - and six small apples cut in threes, the way Tyler showed on air. Waited 10 minutes before flipping and there was still a bit of a mess with the goo, but it was delicious! We're happy to have leftovers to enjoy all weekend long!

I can't wait to serve this to friends soon! I used raisins instead of cranberries, Italian bread in place of challah and walnuts for the pecans. It was what I had on hand and it turned out delicious. So don't be afraid to improvise! Another great recipe to add to my collection. Thank you so much!

My children love to have breakfast for dinner, so when I saw the episode with this dish we were all excited about having it for dinner. I substiuted the challah for Texas Toast and eliminated the cranberries. I let it cook for 50 minutes and then flip it after 10 minutes. It was fantastic. The kids want it again for this coming weekend.

My wife and I made this together yesterday morning and could not be more pleased. We substituted four ingredients from what the recipe called for because we used what we had available. We used raisins instead of cranberries, dark brown sugar instead of light, walnuts instead of pecans, and we didn't have Challa bread so we used Shepherds bread. I get the feeling you can be quite creative with this recipe and it would STILL be AMAZING. I couldn't find my cast iron skillet so we made it in a 12 inch two handled Circulon fryer which was probably a little deeper than the skillet, and took it out at 45 min. We let it rest for almost 10 min before turning it over and it was perfect. We will be making this one again and again.
