This recipe is excellent. I have made it several times for my family and all of us enjoy it. It is sweet and savory and compliments the tenderness of the loins wonderfully. I can understand that one may think that the recipe calls for an excessive amount of shallots, and that may be true. I normally cut back the amount to 7 or 8 when cooking this recipe and they still add a very nice flavor that compliments the grapefruit. If you have shallots, grapefruit, and a freezer full of game, I definetly recommend this recipe.

There were way to many shallots in this recipe. It was more of a chutney than a sauce. The flavor was good but I think one shallot would have been fine. At least it was something different to do with venison but I don't think I would make it again.
