This recipe is everything I was hoping for! It's just delicious! I made one slight change--added just a tiny bit of water because I wanted the cookies to spread just a bit. They have just the right crispiness and chewiness to make this a new favorite! Wow!

I really loved these cookies. I made one substitution and one omission, which worked very well. Because I had only one cup rolled oats I used a second cup of breakfast mueselix (sp?. Also, I had no chocolate, but the mueselix had raisins in it, so there was the sweet flavor.

They came out very crispy, light and chewy at the same time. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for putting this recipe on this site. I'm a non-baker and non-cooker (glad I can even fry an egg and I decided to tempt fate by cooking some cookies from scratch. For two nights in a row I ruined entire batches of cookies with an "easy" vanilla cookie recipe listed on this site. I was ready to give up when I decided to try this recipe to be a final say on whether I should toss in my oven mitts on baking. Not only were they eatible (more than I can say about my other two attempts but also tasty! I agree that they need around 15 mins. to bake instead of 9 mins. They were EASY to make (even for a novice like me that I could even play with the recipe. I added fresh raspberries to them. I added about half a raspberry per drop. I washed the berries lightly and patted them dry, cut them into fourths, then dispered two of the fourths (half a berry of the raspberry into the middle of each drop on the cookie sheet. I covered the raspberry with a little more dough (so that they're not totally sticking out but I didn't crush them. I wanted to keep them as whole as possible. They give a nice tartiness that mix well with the nuts and chocolate. For anyone who thought they were too sweet this is nice ingredient to add to balance out the sweetness.

Reading the previous reviews of this recipe made me a bit reluctant to try it, in spite of the 5-star rating. I half expected my cookies to fall apart, stick to the pan, or take too long to bake, yet none of that happened. Why? Because I followed the recipe as written. Time and time again I read reviews of recipes where the reviewer complains about this failure or that, yet they also admit to playing around with the recipe. Don't do it?not the first time anyway. This recipe is great, just as it is. The only thing I would suggest is using pure maple syrup, as it is a superior product and imparts great flavor.

As the wife and mother of a "picky eater" husband and even pickier 2 year old, this cookie recipe was Wonderful! We all Loved it! The oatmeal and chocolate chips were a perfect match. I cut the maple syrup in half and used a whole teas. of vanilla (as well as a whole bag of chocolate chips he he!- and they were too good to be true!!! Such a fun twist to the traditional chocolate chip cookie. Thank You for the great recipe! We will make them again!
