IM A 24 YR OLD FEMALE AND I STARTED THIS RECIPE BACK IN 2003, I REMEMBER WATCHING IT LATE ONE NITE AND SAID, "IM GOING TO DO THAT THIS THANKSGIVING" IT WAS MY FIRST TIME EVER DOING THANKSGIVING FOR ME FAMILY. THE TURKEY TURNED OUT WONDERFUL AND MY FAMILY LOVED IT!! I HAVE BEEN DOING IT EVERY YEAR SINCE. I DID IT LAST YEAR FOR MY GRANDPARENTS AND THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED AT HOW GREAT IT TURNED OUT, MY GRANDMOTHER EVEN TOLD ME IT WAS BETTER THAN HER RECIPE!! LOL. THE TURKEY TURNED OUT SO MOIST AND WITH DELICIOUS FLAVOR. THANK YOU WOLFGANG FOR MAKING SUCH A GREAT RECIPE. I WOLD RECOMMEND THIS RECIPE TO ANYONE AND EVEN BEGINNERS CAN DO IT! GOD KNOWS I WAS WHEN I STARTED!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE =

I am not a cook. I am, however, very picky. I made this recipe (several years ago for my first time hosting Thanksgiving for my family. They were shocked - IT WAS SO DELICIOUS! I followed the recipe exactly (exactly as far as my understanding/beginning skill level - no ingredient substitutions - not sure if I rinsed the turkey after brining or not, but will this year, as apparently from other reviewers you are supposed to. I checked my directions and they do not indicate to do this. I generally do not repeat recipes due to the fact I am usually not overly excited with their outcomes - but this is it - I have no intentions (in any foreseeable future to try another turkey recipe for Thanksgiving. I feel if I can do this recipe, anyone can - granted I re-read it constantly before and especially during the process. The meat is juicy, the color is beautiful, the gravy is yummy.

If you make your turkey this way, you will end up with juicy flavorful meat, and an outstanding gravy. My son tried this receipe for the first time 5 years ago and we've never looked back. Yes, it seems daunting but it's really not as hard as it looks. Don't be afraid to try something new -- and don't be afraid of this recipe. Simply the best turkey you'll ever have.

Started making this a few years ago and now if I try a new recipe it isn't during Thanksgiving. Guests continually ask for this and they love the gravy it produces. I can't get enough. If you want something unique and delicious try this out. It's worth the work and wait, by far.

I have made this turkey since 2003. In the original recipe, before food network revamped the site, It had stated that the butter is unsalted. Also, It had stated that you need to rinse the turkey after brining. One year I had lost the original recipe and used this one and used salted butter and that was a huge mistake. Otherwise, It is an awesome turkey and I have been making Thanksgiving dinner for 20 years and this one is the best.

I am an avid cook and have made literally thousands of recipes from the Food Network site. This recipe will not disappoint. The Turkey and, most especially the gravy, are simply the best I have ever had.

Wouldn't think of making a turkey any other way. The brining makes this superior!

My sister & my husband were in charge of our Thanksgiving turkey this year. They followed this recipe exactly and the outcome was superb! it was a huge hit! There was not one person at the table that did not say it was the best turkey they had ever had, which is the best compliment! I believe the brine is what makes the turkey so moist and juicy and the prepared butter the outstanding taste! The gravy was excellent too! Thank you!

I have made this turkey for several years now and it always gets rave reviews!
It is not complicated, nor expensive. Not sure what other reveiwers were talking about!!! If you watch food network at all, you know the brine process, because every host has had a show about it, and YES YOU RINSE AND DRY THE TURKEY AFTER BRINING IT! Well worth the effort, because this
turkey comes out so moist and flavorful, you will do it from now on! I have even used this recipe with just the turkey breast when we were not having a big dinner and it is delicious!
